13 weeks ago, 33 men and women arrived at RAAF Base Wagga as civilians. Now, 1RTU’s Course 15 graduates are Air Force aviators. 👏

At their recent graduation, Chief of Air Force Australia Air Marshal Stephen Chappell, DSC, CSC, OAM, highlighted the shared purpose behind their service: keeping Australia safe.

Through challenging field training and everyday teamwork, the recruits built the foundations for their next chapter - specialist training and future roles across Air Force.

Congratulations to Course 15, and thank you to the instructors, families and friends who helped them reach this milestone ✈️

Cyber teams from the Australian Defence Force and Indonesian National Armed Forces went head-to-head in a simulated cyber battle during Exercise Keris Woomera 26 in East Java. 💻

Working in opposing teams, personnel tested their ability to attack, detect and identify threats within a simulated computer network, while sharing techniques, technologies and approaches to cyber operations.

From AI-assisted capabilities to hands-on cyber skills, the training highlighted the value of learning from one another. Known as Integrasi, the training strengthened interoperability, built mutual understanding and reinforced the Australia & Indonesia defence partnership. 🇦🇺🤝🇮🇩

Investing in our northern neighbour’s aviation skills also invests in Australia’s future defence relationships.

Eight Papua New Guinea Defence Force technicians have recently graduated from the School of Technical Training at RAAF Base Wagga, completing aircraft technician and avionics technician courses through Flights of Excellence.

Delivered through Australia’s Defence Cooperation Program, the initiative helps PNG develop the workforce to sustain its sovereign aviation capability. For Australia, shared training builds confidence in partners’ skills and creates opportunities for closer maintenance cooperation and mutual support.

The graduates are part of a wider training effort spanning officer development, pilot training, engineering and aviation support.
Their professional connections reinforce the 2026 National Defence Strategy’s emphasis on coordination with regional partners, ensuring stronger technical capability and enduring relationships that will help both defence forces work together in the years ahead.
