Thank you to everyone who donated to our Hermitage Firefighter, Taylor 👨🏻‍🚒

He completed the Melbourne Firefighter Stair Climb today, completing the 28 floors with 25kgs of gear in 9 minutes and 4 seconds.

Thanks to everyone who donated, $1000 was raised for mental health and cancer research, on behalf of Hermitage Country Fire Service 🚒

A very worthy cause!

While many of you were keeping warm and dry at home, our crew responded alongside Hermitage CFS to a reported landslide on North East Road at around 8:30 pm, as the tail end of Sunday’s spectacular storm rolled through.

On arrival, and in trying conditions, crews identified an area of approximately 3–4 square metres of earth that had slipped from the side of Anstey Hill, obstructing the city-bound lane.

After traffic management was established to ensure the safety of emergency crews and passing motorists, the hazard was quickly cleared from the roadway, allowing the lane to be reopened.

This incident was just one of more than 400 calls received by emergency services across South Australia as a result of the severe weather front that impacted the state.

Please be aware there are road closures in place around the intersection of Paracombe and Murray roads. As you can see, a large tree has come down and requires some heavy duty equipment which should arrive early tomorrow morning.
In the mean time, if you are heading towards town, Murray Rd is open and will take you through to North East Rd or if you are heading east towards the Paracombe Oval area, you will need to use Murray or Paracombe Rd from the Inglewood end.

🚒 The members of Hermitage CFS are proud to support our own Taylor Hittmann as he takes on the Melbourne Firefighter Stair Climb on 12 September 2026.

As a volunteer firefighter with Hermitage CFS, Taylor is passionate about supporting both his local community and the broader firefighting family. This year, he will be joining other firefighters from across South Australia, and Australia to climb the equivalent of Melbourne’s tallest buildings in full firefighting protective clothing and breathing apparatus 👨🏻‍🚒

The Melbourne Firefighter Stair Climb raises vital funds for firefighter mental health programs, cancer support and research, and services that assist emergency service personnel and their families when they need it most.

While the climb is a significant physical challenge, it is also an opportunity to recognise the resilience, commitment and sacrifices made by firefighters and emergency service workers every day.

⚠️ SEVERE WEATHER WARNING ⚠️
From tomorrow morning, Monday June 1, there is severe weather forecast for our district including damaging winds and heavy rainfall for the next couple of days. Be prepared, and follow guidance from the SA State Emergency Service ☔️

WEATHER ALERT: Wild weather is set to sweep across parts of South Australia with authorities issuing a severe weather warning for damaging winds.

BoM: “A strong cold front will sweep across the state tomorrow bringing isolated damaging wind gusts to much of the state.

A deep low pressure system will follow later tomorrow bringing a broader damaging wind risk over western parts of the state, extending eastwards to the Adelaide region, central, and southeastern parts during Monday evening as the low passes to the south of Adelaide overnight.

Damaging wind gusts to 90 km/h are possible across western and central parts of the state from late tomorrow morning, affecting Adelaide and the Mt Lofty Ranges from the early afternoon.

Damaging winds averaging 60 to 70 km/h with gusts to 100 km/h become likely about the West Coast, Eyre Peninsula and Yorke Peninsula during Monday afternoon, extending to the remainder of the warning area, including Adelaide and the southeast, during tomorrow evening.

Damaging winds are expected to ease over coastal and low lying areas, including Adelaide, during Tuesday morning, and then gradually ease over the Flinders Ranges and Mt Lofty Ranges during Tuesday afternoon and evening. Locations which may be affected include Adelaide, Port Lincoln, Strathalbyn, Maitland, Whyalla, Mount Gambier, Ceduna and Port Augusta.”

🔥 Fire Danger Season Officially Ends for the Mount Lofty Ranges 🔥

Today marks the official end of the 2025/26 Fire Danger Season in the Mount Lofty Ranges Fire Ban District.

It’s been a long and demanding season, and we want to acknowledge the incredible efforts of our volunteers and partner agencies who have worked tirelessly to protect lives, property, and our community.

To our local community - thank you. Your vigilance, preparation, and support make a real difference.

While the Fire Danger Season has now concluded, it’s important to remember that fire risk doesn’t disappear. Please continue to remain aware of conditions, follow local guidance, and report any concerns promptly.

Let’s take a moment to reflect on the season, appreciate the work that’s been done, and carry that awareness forward.
