The Energy and Water Ombudsman Drop In Sessions in New England are coming to Uralla and Invergowrie, giving residents the opportunity to discuss NSW's Renewable Energy Infrastructure planning, including land access, community engagement, contractor conduct, Strategic Benefit Payments and more.

Staying connected during emergencies is critical. Following the significant snow event that affected communications across our region last year, two locations in Uralla are now equipped with backup telecommunications services through the Australian Government's Strengthening Telecommunications Against Natural Disasters (STAND) Program.

The following sites can provide backup connectivity during emergency events when regular telecommunications services are impacted:

Did you know your backyard could be home to species that help scientists better understand and protect Australia's environment?

Residents of all ages are invited to take part in Bug Hunt Australia’s "Bugs in My Backyard Week", running from 16-22 November 2026. All you need is a smartphone, a curious eye and a willingness to explore your garden, local park or favourite outdoor spot.

Simply snap photos of insects, spiders, snails, worms and other invertebrates, then upload them through the free iNaturalist app. Your observations will contribute to a nationwide citizen science project that helps researchers track native species and detect invasive pests.

Last year's event attracted more than 5,000 participants who submitted over 40,000 observations from across Australia. Let's see how many discoveries Uralla Shire can contribute this year!

𝗕𝗼𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘆, 𝗕𝗶𝗼𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗕𝘂𝗴𝘀 & 𝗕𝗶𝗿𝗱𝘀 𝗮𝘁 𝗥𝗮𝗰𝗲𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲 𝗟𝗮𝗴𝗼𝗼𝗻
Racecourse Lagoon is one of Uralla’s environmental treasures, and this field day is a great opportunity for residents to learn more about the plants, wildlife and restoration work taking place there.

Join local experts for a practical and informative field day exploring the ecological restoration of Racecourse Lagoon. Hear about wetland botany, regional biosecurity, weeds and wildlife, then take part in guided walks around the lagoon to identify native species and learn more about this unique local environment.
