π’ Did you know, there are over 2,000 Australian animals and plants at risk of extinction?
π¨ This includes koalas on Australia's east coast. One of the most iconic Aussie animals, koalas survive on a diet of eucalyptus leaves and can eat up to 1kg a day!
π Sadly, in 2022 they were uplisted from 'Vulnerable' to Endangered'.
π³ Our weak nature laws which allow the destruction of their forests home, along with a lack of adequate funding to protect threatened species like the koala, is putting them at risk of disappearing forever.
βοΈ I've sent a message to my local member of parliament, urging them to do more to save threatened wildlife and the places they call home.

We dont want them here! Take care of any potted plants u pick up at markets ir roadside stalls!
They're ants and they're on fire! π₯π Nasty fire ants have come up with a way to spread during floods by forming "living rafts".
After heavy rain, fire ants build their nests higher, making them more visible. As you clear debris, check for nests in disturbed areas, such as:
π near footpaths, driveways, and garden beds
π under timber, rocks, and pavers
π near utility pits or electrical infrastructure
Fire ant nests can appear as dome shaped mounds or flat patches of loose soil with no clear entry or exit holes.
Fire ants are small but aggressive and will swarm when disturbed. Look for ants that are:
π copper brown in colour with a darker abdomen
π measure 2β6 mm in size
π vary in size within one nest
Please take caution if you see a nest or ants that match this description - fire ants can sting, and their venom may cause severe allergic reactions. Properties that have been treated and had any nests eradicated, could be vulnerable again.
π Report your sightings as soon as you see them on 132 ANT (13 22 68) or online lccqld.com/report-fireants.
