πŸ’₯ Fire Permit Season πŸ’₯
1st October marks the start of Bush Fire Danger Period & Permit Season for the Dungog Council Area.
Burning in the open WILL require a permit.

BEFORE burning, a minimum 24hrs notice must be given to the NSW RFS & all neighbouring properties.
To apply for a permit, you can call 1800 890 533 to obtain your local permit officers phone number.
You can submit notification online at www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/notify or phone NSW RFS Lower Hunter District on 1800 890 533.

Please be mindful that the Permit Officer will need time to write & approve your permit BEFORE you give your 24hrs notice.

Use the month of September to clear vegetation from around your home, gutters & sheds.
Do not store flammables under your home.
Clearing an Asset Protection Zone around your property can give you a greater chance of saving your assets in the event of a bush fire.
This can be as simple as keeping the lawns short & green around your property.

There will be more updates as the Bush Fire Danger Period draws nearer.

πŸ‘©β€πŸš’ Volunteer Week πŸš’

"An individual who willingly dedicates their time, skills, and effort to help others or support a cause without expecting financial compensation."

There are many volunteer organisations around us, whom give their time to keep your community running & safe.
Many volunteers dedicate years & decades selflessly, and often silently, without recognition.

If you know a volunteer, thank them for their efforts.

This evening, our hearts go out to the families of those at Marine Rescue Ballina.
Where last night, two male volunteers, Frank & Bill, tragically lost their lives while trying to save the life of a civilian in trouble.
Sadly, he also lost his life.

The volunteers have paid the ultimate price, doing what they loved.

We send our sincerest thoughts, condolences and prayers to every single person affected by this tragedy.
Their families, fellow service members & the other emergency service members who attended afterwards.

May You Rest In Peace πŸ•ŠπŸ–€

Today, Wallarobba Brigade remembers the sacrifice of those who gave their tomorrow so we can have our today πŸ‡¦πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡³πŸ‡Ώ

They shall grow not old,
as We that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them,
nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun
and in the morning
We will remember them.

Lest We Forget.

A couple of nights ago, Wallarobba Rural Fire Brigade, Clarence Town Rural Fire Brigade & NSW RFS - Vacy Brigade were paged to a grass fire on Dungog Rd.
Vacy & one of Clarence Towns trucks were stood down enroute. The remaining Clarence Town & Wallarobba crews worked at extinguishing two small fires, either side of the Wirragulla train station.

These fires were deliberately lit.

This has been the case 3 times previously in the same location. Deliberately lighting fires without notification to the Lower Hunter Zone is illegal and during times of fuel shortages, it's a waste of fuel and volunteer time.
