NEMA - North East Multicultural Association NEMA is the voice of Multiculturalism in the North East of Victoria, including Mansfield, Alpine and

North East Multicultural Association (NEMA) was established in February 2005 as the first ethnic community council in North East Victoria, with a vision to support existing and new migrants, raise cultural awareness, and promote the benefits of diversity. NEMA acknowledges the economic, cultural and social contribution migrants made to the region, and recognises the importance of cultural heritage through celebrations such as Harmony Day. The office at suite 3 and 4, 90- 100 Ovens Street Wangaratta is a place for culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) community members to meet to access information, resources, or participate in a class. NEMA offers craft classes, and also free basic IT tuition, Smartphone tuition and English as a Second Language instruction to the CALD community. From humble beginnings, NEMA has developed into an organisation with a strategic vision for the future and an awareness of the changing nature of multicultural issues. NEMA is now also offering Cultural Diversity training to organisations at competitive prices. We have two workshops available: Understanding and Promoting Cultural Diversity In The Workplace and Diversity Within Diversity: Working with Diverse Clients. For more information about any of our services, classes or workshops, please contact the office via phone: (03) 5721 2090 or email: [email protected]

πŸ’š Grit and Resilience Festival 2026! πŸ’š

What a wonderful and successful day! Our NEMA team loved connecting with new people, sharing stories, and spreading positivity throughout the community.

Our activity this year, β€œTake a Little Strength with You,” invited visitors to take home a positive message to brighten their day, bring a smile, and remind them of their own strength and resilience.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our stall and shared this special moment with us. Together, we grow stronger!

Today we had a great visit from Lisa Inman and Dilli Binadi from the Department of Premier and Cabinet (DPC), who are travelling around regional Victoria and meeting with local organisations to hear about current funding and what’s happening on the ground.

We had a really open and friendly conversation about the challenges CALD communities are facing across our region, including access to services, cost of living, transport, employment, settlement and the need for culturally appropriate support in regional areas.

We also had the opportunity to share some of the work NEMA is doing and talk about the challenges and opportunities we see in our communities.

It was great to have these conversations, share our local experiences and make sure the voices of regional CALD communities are heard. We’re looking forward to continuing the conversation in future.

Our Alpine Social Group came together for a wonderful lunch at the Red Stag Deer Farm in Myrtleford. It was such a lovely day spent enjoying good food, beautiful spring weather and, most importantly, each other’s company. 🦌

It is always wonderful to see our social group growing and bringing people together, creating connections, friendships and a strong sense of community.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the day so special. We look forward to many more gatherings together! πŸ’•
