Get Ready for Summer

With warmer weather approaching, now is a good time to prepare for summer and ensure you understand the requirements for burning off on your property.

Always remember to register your burn-off by visiting Fire Permits Victoria https://www.firepermits.vic.gov.au/ - This is the fastest way. You can also call 1800 668 511 (however this number gets quite busy, so we recommend the website).

Registering your burn-off is quick and easy and can help prevent emergency services from being called unnecessarily.

Before lighting any fire, make sure you:

- Know how to burn off safely.
- Understand your responsibilities.
- Check the current fire restrictions and conditions.
- Have the appropriate permits where required.
- Ensure your burn-off complies with local council requirements.

For information, tips and requirements for burning off safely, visit the CFA website: https://www.cfa.vic.gov.au/fire-safety/outside-your-home/burning-off

Important: Please note that burning off in a residential area requires a permit at any time of the year.

For more information and to ensure your burn-off complies with Baw Baw Shire Council rules and regulations, visit:

Baw Baw Shire Council – https://www.bawbawshire.vic.gov.au/Resident-Information/Local-Laws-and-Permits/Burning-Off-and-Permits

This weekend, ten members from Warragul took part in the Melbourne Firefighter Stair Climb. Our crew climbed 28 floors in 25kg of turnout gear and breathing apparatus to raise money for Peter MacCallum Cancer Foundation, Lifeline, and the 000 Foundation.

A huge Thank You to everyone for your support and donations! Warragul raised $5,979 of the $1,088,128 total this year! That is $500 more than we raised last year, and all money raised all goes towards the incredible work of those those three amazing causes

Congratulations to Peter (pictured) who came 3rd in his category, and Dan who came 5th in his category and 22nd overall.

And a very special thank you from all the climbers to Baehr, who once again joined the climb crew to ensure everyone made it safely to the top!

Wonderful to meet some of the newest members of our community and of course we're always happy to share tips and resources!

Some of regional Victoria’s newest migrants have learnt about fire safety and what to do in an emergency, thanks to the Warragul Fire Brigade.

Our Settlement Engagement and Transition Support (SETS) team works with community partners to help new migrants settle into life in Gippsland.

Recently, the team took Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP) students to visit the Warragul CFA.

Students learnt about fire safety, smoke alarms and what to do in an emergency. They also learnt how the CFA helps people in local communities.

The visit included plenty of hands-on learning. Students had the chance to use a fire hose, climb aboard a fire truck and experience the emergency alarm system.

They also took home a fire blanket to help keep their homes safe.

Back in the classroom, students talked about the visit and practised their English. They learnt new words and phrases about fire safety and emergency services.

Visits like this help new migrants learn about important services in Australia. They also help build confidence, make connections and create a sense of belonging.

AMEP student Giselle Rojas Soublette says the visit helped her feel “more informed, safer and more connected to the community I now call home”.

If you’re new to Gippsland and would like support to settle into your new community, contact our SETS team at [email protected] or 1800 242 696.

You might know Brad Hadfield from our Pre-Owned Sales Department, but outside the dealership, Brad is also a proud CFA volunteer.

On 12 September, Brad and some of the Warragul Fire Brigade crew will take on the Annual Firefighter Stair Climb, climbing 28 floors while carrying 25kg of gear, all in an effort to raise $1 million to help fight cancer, depression and su***de.

And we want to help Brad and the CFA crew reach their goal. ❤️🚒

For the next 4 weeks, we’re switching up our Token Donations. Every vehicle sold at Turnbull Motors will come with a $10 token for our customers to add to the donation jar - helping turn every car sold into a little more support for this incredible cause.

Want to make a donation yourself?
Every contribution helps. 👇

This afternoon at 2pm AEST there will be a test of AusAlert, a system designed to notify you of emergencies. This technology has been used in Europe and the USA for over a decade.

You don’t need to do anything. It's just a test.

In an actual disaster, an AusAlert notification will give you information about the type of emergency and what to do.

For more information, please see: https://www.ausalert.gov.au/alerts-explained/national-test

Warragul CFA are looking forward to seeing everyone at Snowfest Warragul this Friday evening (24th July 2026)! Come and learn about what we do - or just get a pic of the kids (small or large!) with the big red truck. We'll also have members of our junior brigade (11-16 years) who'd love to invite your juniors to join them.
