Thank you to the citizens, veterans, Banyule City Council and Montmorency Eltham RSL for the warm welcome at today’s Freedom of Entry Parade.
DFSS was honoured to march through the city, reaffirming the historic bond between our Defence personnel and the local community. Your support means so much to our serving members and their families - it was a privilege to share this proud tradition with you.

Don't miss the Freedom of Entry parade in Montmorency.
On Sunday, 5 October, more than 200 members of the Defence Force School of Signals will march through Montmorency for the Freedom of Entry Parade – the highest honour Council can bestow on a military unit
The Parade will start from Montmorency Station at 9.30am, and will move along Were Street before finishing at Petrie Park for a ceremony, followed by a community morning tea.
It’s the first time in almost 10 years this proud tradition has taken place in Banyule – come along and show your support!

Freedom of Entry to the City of Banyule
The Defence Force School of Signals warmly invites all current serving members, former serving members, families and interested members of the public to this historic civic honour symbolising the trust and respect between a city and a military unit. DFSS with be marching in full ceremonial regalia - ‘swords drawn, bayonets fixed, colours flying, drums beating, and band playing’.

On 16 April 25, the Defence Force School of Signals hosted a graduation for Air Force Network Technician Session 023.
This parade celebrated nine months of vigorous academic and physical training that the aviators underwent before they join their new units.
This parade was attended by GPCAPT Daniel McManus, CSC, who presented the Academic Achievement Award and Outstanding Performance Award.
Congratulations to the graduates and good luck with your careers ahead!

In their centenary year Signallers are reflecting on 100 years of using the latest technology to keep our soldiers connected in conflict.
Wireless communications were an emerging technology during World War 1 and pigeons were used to send messages to and from the front.
In 1942, 13,500 birds were donated to the newly created Australian Corps of Signals Pigeon Service.

On the 14th August 2024 the Defence Force School of Signals hosted a combined graduation for Session 27 of Information Systems Technicians, and Cyber Systems Specialists. This parade celebrates the completion of seven and eleven months respectively of initial employment training.
