๐Ÿ“šโœจ On Wednesday we joined in with Simultaneous Storytime! โœจ๐Ÿ“š

Thereโ€™s something so special about children across Australia all sharing the same story at the same time. Storytime helps spark imagination, build language skills, encourage creativity, and most importantly, create a lifelong love of reading. ๐Ÿ’›

Reading with children every day helps them develop confidence, communication skills, concentration, and emotional understanding. Even just a few minutes a day can make a huge difference in a childโ€™s learning journey.

This week was filled with smiles, laughter, and a love of books โ€” a wonderful reminder of how powerful stories can be. ๐Ÿ“–๐ŸŒŸ

National Simultaneous Storytime, on MAY 27th at 12PM, is an event that celebrates literacy, imagination and connection through the joy of shared reading.

Every year, a picture book created by an Australian author and illustrator is chosen for a free nationwide reading event unlike any other. Millions gather in schools, libraries, homes, preschools and bookshops to read the same story, at the same time, out loud, together.

In 2026, that picture book is Luna Roo. A full-throttle, tail-thumping, goal-scoring, underdog story that brings the excitement off the pitch and the page, and into an unmissable storytime event on 27 May 2026 at 12.00pm AEST.

At Watsonia Primary School, weโ€™re proud to offer our students the 2Dream Music Program ๐ŸŽถ

Music is more than just learning an instrument โ€” it plays a powerful role in a childโ€™s development. Through music, students build cognitive skills like memory and concentration, learn to express and regulate their emotions, and develop confidence. It also creates strong social connections as students collaborate, perform, and grow together.

Most importantly, music supports positive mental health, giving children a creative outlet and a sense of achievement.

Come and discover how programs like 2Dream make learning at Watsonia Primary so special.
