To the Army!

Soldiers and Junior Non-Commissioned Officers of the Battalion recently held a Dining-In Night to celebrate their achievements of the year and honour the customs and traditions of the Australian Army.

An amazing evening of food and drink ensued, with a great time had by all (and minimal injuries!). Officers and Seniors of the Battalion offered up their services as stewards and dish-hands, a display of their gratitude for the members who are the foundation of the 3rd Health Battalion.

Exercise Surging Forward 26 tested the forward surgical capability of a team comprising almost entirely of reservist personnel. The activity validated the team, refined its approach to operating in a forward environment, and strengthened its readiness for future operations.

The exercise also supported preparations for the introduction of equipment and systems to Melbourne-based members. Key outcomes included testing an updated communications system, and new power solution capable of silently sustaining most equipment. These developments represent important steps towards a more integrated, self-sufficient, and operationally ready forward surgical capability.

3 HB takes to the skies!

Members of 6/10 HSC and OSC recently swapped the ground for the clouds, partnering with ADF Parachuting School for an unforgettable day assisting tandem parachute jump training in Victoria.

After gearing up, completing safety briefs, and getting some final words of encouragement, members stepped out into open air, freefalling above the Victorian landscape and taking in some incredible views on the way down.

The opportunity to try something completely different, build confidence, share a few laughs and create some memories won’t be forgotten anytime soon. Another example showcasing the diverse and exciting opportunities available within an Army career.

Our people have been hard at work in Melbourne.

6/10 Health Support Company has recently completed a series of training activities practicing patient movement and treatment from Point of Injury to Role 1 and Role 2 care. Scenarios utilised local infrastructure and assets at Oakleigh Barracks, and were a great success.

Clinicians have also been instructing and assessing on a number of Combat First Aider-Recertification courses in partnership with the 4th Brigade. This increases combat unit self-sufficiency in the field through development and certification of life-saving medical skillsets which increase unit capabilities.
