πŸ“’ Have your say to help shape the WA Play Strategy!

The WA Government wants to hear about your thoughts on what supports children’s play, what gets in the way, and what would help create more opportunities for children to play across WA through an online survey.

The survey is open to everyone. Whether you’re a parent, family or community member, educator or someone who works in a role that supports, influences or shapes children’s opportunities to play, your insight is valuable.

With the support of a trusted adult helping them, children up to eight years of age are especially encouraged to share what play means to them.

The survey is open until 11 November 2026.

πŸŽ€ Better access. Earlier detection.
This Breast Cancer Awareness Month, put your health first and book your regular mammogram.

With a new BreastScreen WA clinic now open in South Bunbury, access to screening is even easier for women across the South West.

Breast screening plays an important role in detecting breast cancer early, often before symptoms appear.

Women aged 50 to 74 are encouraged to have a free mammogram every two years, while women aged 40 to 49 are also eligible for free screening.

πŸ—“οΈBook your mammogram and set a reminder for your next screening

Saturday, 10 October is World Migratory Bird Day!🌏

Right now, migratory shorebirds are making their way back to WA after travelling thousands of kilometres from their breeding grounds in the Northern Hemisphere.

Birds like the curlew sandpiper (featured below) have recently returned to WA's wetlands, mudflats and coastlines to feed and refuel after migrating south from their Arctic breeding grounds in Siberia.

So far, the 10 positive cases of H5 bird flu in WA have all been found in migratory seabirds from the Southern Ocean area.

While bird flu rarely infects people and the current risk to Australians is considered low, pet owners can take simple steps to help protect their animals, including cats, dogs and backyard poultry.

Do you know what to do when it comes to bird flu?
