Congratulations to all involved. ABC Broken Hill great to hear this story on the Sydney ABC. It's a showcase for our fabulous cafe and all the team and the wider Wilcannia community.

With every cup of coffee, slice of cake and burger served at the Wilcannia cafe, a stigma that has deterred tourists for years is lifting, and it's great news for the young staff.

They were carved on site in 1993 by artists from around the world, using blocks quarried nearby. 🪨🎨

The Living Desert Sculptures sit above Broken Hill, a mining town that has produced silver, lead and zinc continuously since 1883 and now sits inside a state heritage listing. ⛏️⏳

The sculptures face west across the desert, and sunset is when everybody goes. There is a walking trail through the site and a sanctuary area below. 🌅✨
