It has been a busy and rewarding few days for the volunteers at Marine Rescue Windy Harbour.
On Saturday, our volunteers took part in a Seamanship Training Course delivered by Danial Pell from the Department of Fire and Emergency Services. With calm seas and beautiful weather, the training provided a great opportunity for volunteers to build on their skills both in the classroom and out on the water aboard our rescue vessel.
Today, we welcomed students from Pemberton as part of Emergency Services Week. Throughout the day, students learned about marine safety, boating awareness, and the role Marine Rescue plays in keeping our coastal waters safe.
One of the highlights was a mock shark attack scenario, where Marine Rescue volunteers worked alongside St John Ambulance Northcliffe to demonstrate how emergency services respond and work together during an incident.
These events are a great reminder that training, education, and teamwork are at the heart of what we do. Whether it’s preparing our volunteers for real-life situations or helping young people learn about water safety, we are proud to be part of a community that values safety and service.
A big thank you to Danial Pell, St John Ambulance Northcliffe, the teachers and students who visited, everyone involved in the program and our dedicated volunteers who helped make both days such a success.
