ABOUT WODONGA
Wodonga is Victoria's fastest growing regional city and can be found on the Victorian/New South Wales border, about 300 kilometres north-east of Melbourne. Albury-Wodonga combined has a population of approximately 99,000. Wodonga includes the main urban centre of the city, as well as the rural localities Bandiana, Baranduda, Barnawartha North, Bonegilla, Castle Creek, Ebden, Gateway
Island, Huon Creek, Killara, Leneva and Staghorn Flat. Wodonga's boundaries stretch from the Murray River to the north, Towong Shire in the east and Indigo Shire in the south and west. WHAT DO PEOPLE LOVE ABOUT LIVING IN WODONGA? Wodonga is a great place in which to live because it has excellent facilities for people of all ages, yet has a relaxed community feel. Wodonga has more than 80km of bike and walking paths, providing the perfect opportunity to walk by the Murray River or enjoy one of the scenic routes that link the city. Picturesque parks and gardens are dotted throughout the community providing an ideal spot to picnic. Wodonga is strategically placed between Melbourne and Sydney on the Hume Highway, with both cities easily reached by road, rail or air. Locals and visitors can access the renowned wine areas of Rutherglen, Milawa and King Valley in less than an hour, as well as the historic towns of Beechworth, Yackandandah and Chiltern. The snowfields of North East Victoria can be reached by car in just over an hour. 80 per cent of Australia's population can be reached by road/rail overnight while the Albury airport services Melbourne, Canberra and Sydney regularly. WHAT ARE WODONGA'S KEY ATTRACTIONS? Belvoir Park features a super playground, an off-leash dog park with agility equipment, walking tracks, picnic facilities, large open spaces and a lake that is home to a number of water birds. The Bonegilla Migrant Experience was Australiaโs first, largest and longest operating migrant reception centre and the first Australian home for some 320,000 post-war migrants from more than 30 countries. Today, the centre stands as strong testimony to the bravery of post-war immigrants who came to and settled in Australia. Lake Hume is one of Wodongaโs most defining features and is a haven for recreational boaters, skiers, swimmers and anglers. Wodongaโs hillsides and parkland reserves provide the ideal bushwalking, bird watching and hiking tracks for the novice as well as the experienced walker. Wodonga Council is seeking feedback on two playground redevelopments and a proposal to enter into a long-term lease for a cafe/restaurant site at Gateway Village.
Whether you're popping into the markets and enjoying a coffee at La Maison, visiting a local playground or spending time with family this weekend, we'd love to hear your thoughts.
In a fresh new space with a fresh new look, thereโs a new kid on the block in Wodongaโs latest retail centre, Bakery Hill, and itโs a renowned local bike business the community has loved for more than 12 years.
With a new name and a new location, a walk into @โBorder Bikes Albury Wodonga immediately feels familiar with the knowledgeable staff and family-friendly servicing locals have known and loved at Cycle Station, previously located near Albury Train Station.
Owner Geoff OโNeill said he had been contemplating a move to south of the border for some time and is excited for the business to settle into its new home in Wodonga.
โA fresh start and the big move crossing the border has definitely been positive so far,โ Geoff said.
โBuilding community, supporting local families and encouraging them to find a fresh passion for riding and experiencing all the incredible trails across North East Victoria gets all of us excited.โ
Border Bikes proudly specialises in helping riders of all ages and abilities find the perfect bike. Their expert repairs and bike servicing include tune-ups and builds, adjustments, part installations and personal bike fits.
The businessโs relocation earlier in March brings it closer to the regions incredible network of mountain bike trails throughout North East Victoria, including the High Country Rail Trail and countless other scenic routes in the area.

Wodonga is growing and councilโs ๐ซ๐๐๐๐ ๐ฉ๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐-๐๐๐๐ sets out how we plan to keep supporting the services, infrastructure and projects our community relies on.
The draft budget proposes a 2.38 per cent rate increase, which is below the Victorian Government rate cap, while continuing to invest in important projects across the city.
This includes renewals for roads, footpaths and bridges, youth-focused funding, continued work at Logic Industrial Estate and new facilities at the Wodonga Exhibition Centre to support future emergency response.
We want to hear what you think before the draft budget is considered for adoption.
