Today is World No To***co Day

Robert smoked for 41 years. “It was just part of my life.” Even after a frightening health scare and emphysema diagnosis, quitting didn’t happen straight away.

After being inspired by a friend who had quit, and the Health Promotion team providing support and quit options, Robert decided it was his time to quit.

Using ni****ne replacement therapy for the first time, alongside regular encouragement from Quitline, Robert began his quit journey. “They rang me and they were really encouraging… I wasn’t alone.” Even through moments of temptation, he stayed determined.

Today, Robert has been smoke-free for over 12 months.
“I feel healthier. My breathing is better. I’m happier, more relaxed and less anxious… I never thought I could do it, but I did.”

Quitting isn’t easy but with the right support, it is possible. And it’s never too late to start.

All young people from 2 to 17 years of age in NSW are now eligible for the free nasal spray flu vaccine.

Expanding eligibility aims to boost statewide vaccination rates and make it easier for families - especially those with children who dislike needles.

The nasal spray flu vaccine is gentle, painless and available for free for a limited time at GPs, Aboriginal Medical Services and pharmacies.

Influenza (flu) is serious but isn’t as scary if you’re vaccinated. A flu vaccine offers you and your child the best protection from serious illness.
