Recently we’ve found a colony of Southern Myotis Microbats tucked away in a culvert on West Dapto Road.

These microbats are tiny – but as a threatened species they carry big environmental significance, so we need to adjust how we’re working on West Dapto Road to keep the project moving forward.

At this stage, we don’t have a definitive timeframe on when we’ll be able to demolish the culvert. We can assure you we’re doing our best to care for the bats so they can safely move on and we can get the road reopened. We appreciate the patience and understanding of those residents directly impacted by these works and will be sure to keep people updated as we move forward.
