In this residential leadership program, participants will develop leadership and communication skills, learn about parliamentary processes, engage with Aboriginal leaders and even get the chance to deliver a speech in the NSW Legislative Council Chamber.

This movement brought national and international focus to inequality and racism, paving the way for the 1967 referendum and the journey towards Reconciliation. It stands as a powerful symbol for First Nations people across Australia, reminding us that united action can bring about change and that our ongoing advocacy for full equality is vital for the thriving of all our communities

International Women’s Day Illawarra Committee have advised they have extended the closing date for the 2025 International Women’s Day Illawarra Scholarships and Major Projects – the new closing date is February 7.

We would love it if you would take the time to share this information with your friends, family and networks and encourage applications for the scholarships and/or major project before they close.

Please note: Applicants for Scholarships or Major Projects can self-nominate or be nominated. If you know an individual who may benefit from a scholarship or an organisation that may benefit from funding, please do nominate them yourself or suggest they nominate. There is no age restriction on most, however the applicant/nominee must reside in the Illawarra defined as the local Government areas of Wollongong, Shellharbour, Kiama and Shoalhaven.

Wollongong City Council is currently seeking applications for membership of the Wollongong Heritage Reference Group. The Reference Group provides advice to Council on policy matters relating to the conservation and promotion of Wollongong's natural and cultural heritage. Individual residents with an interest, expertise, knowledge or background in Wollongong's Heritage are invited to express an interest in joining the committee.

Members will be required to attend quarterly meetings. The following meeting dates for 2025 have been scheduled:

Thursday 11th September 2025
Thursday 27th November 2025

They can bring any bills they are concerned about, and our friendly teams can suggest payment plans and offer solutions. Government, community, and local organisations will also be available to assist.
