πŸ—¨οΈ "The atmosphere was everything you'd hope for. Thompson Avenue was new, fresh and buzzing. The Esplanade transformed into a dancefloor and more than 1,000 campers filled the Cowes campground. Friday delivered one of those perfect Bass Coast days that reminds you why people love this place so much...

Over the past 30 years, thousands of volunteers, sporting clubs, service clubs, community groups, emergency services personnel, local businesses and Council staff, past and present, have helped make MotoGP what it became.
..They should all be proud of the role they have played, not just this weekend, but over the last three decades. The success of MotoGP on Phillip Island has never belonged to one organisation. It has belonged to an entire community."

This Seniors Month, we're celebrating the important role our pool plays in helping older members of our community stay active, independent and socially connected.

For many seniors, water-based exercise provides a gentle, supportive way to keep moving. But just as importantly, the pool is a place to belong, build friendships and look out for one another.

After 50 years of serving Bass Coast, our much-loved Wonthaggi pool is ageing and reaching the end of its life. Our community deserves a modern, accessible aquatic and leisure centre that can continue supporting people of all ages and abilities for generations to come.

That’s why Bass Coast Shire Council is advocating for government investment in the future of the Bass Coast Aquatic and Leisure Centre.

πŸŽ₯ Hear why, even after 25 years, the pool remains such an important part of this community member's life now more than ever.

It's time to tidy up those gardens and get your property bushfire ready ahead of summer! β˜€οΈπŸŒΏπŸŒ³πŸŒΎ

From Saturday 31 October to Sunday 22 November, we're accepting domestic loads of green waste FREE of charge at our waste facilities in:

πŸ“ Wonthaggi
πŸ“ Inverloch
πŸ“ Grantville
πŸ“ Cowes

πŸ‚ Clearing fallen leaves, branches and other vegetation around your property can help reduce potential fuel for bushfires. So grab those gardening gloves and make the most of the fee-free period!

πŸš— Our facilities can get busy, especially over the Melbourne Cup long weekend. Consider visiting mid-week or later in the fee-free period to avoid the queues.

Please note that trailers larger than 8' x 5' and large trucks cannot access the Cowes Recycling Bank and will be redirected to Grantville. Some plant species and materials also aren't accepted as green waste.

πŸ—¨οΈ "The flags are up on the bridge. The shops are decorated. Thompson Avenue is looking its best. The new Cowes Foreshore Precinct is ready to welcome visitors, businesses have rolled out their new furniture, and there's a real sense that something special is about to happen...

For more than 30 years, the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix has been part of the rhythm and identity of life on Phillip Island. Every spring, the bikes rolled into town, the streets filled with colour and the familiar roar echoed across the Island. An entire generation has grown up knowing that MotoGP weekend wasn't just another event. It was something special.
..This weekend is our chance to celebrate it. And while there was exciting news this week that Supercars will return to Phillip Island from 2027, right now the focus is firmly on MotoGP and giving this incredible event the farewell it deserves."

πŸπŸš— Supercars are coming back! Check out the throwback Friday!

Today, the Victorian Government announced that the Repco Supercars Championship will return to Phillip Island from 2027, bringing one of Australia's biggest motorsport categories back to one of the country's most iconic circuits.

It's fantastic news for Phillip Island, local businesses and motorsport fans, and a positive step as Bass Coast continues advocating for a diverse calendar of events and experiences following the loss of MotoGPβ„’ and World Superbikes.

Phillip Island and Supercars go wayyyyyyyyy back. The circuit first hosted a championship round in 1976, with 62 championship races held here over the decades. These throwback photos from 2010 are a reminder of the atmosphere that Supercars brought to Cowes and the Island. πŸŽοΈπŸ’¨

But before we start counting down to 2027, we've got one more huge weekend to enjoy...
🏍️ Next weekend is MotoGPβ„’ on Phillip Island.

If you've ever wanted a taste of the atmosphere Phillip Island creates for major events, now is your chance. You don't need a ticket to the track to be part of it.
