On 24/09/26 at approximately 1300hrs Woolgoolga RFS, Corindi Rural Fire Brigade, and Fire and Rescue NSW Station 507 Woolgoolga were paged to reports of a bushfire on Centenary Drive, nearby a walking track by Woolgoolga High School.

Upon arrival, crews observed a small 20x30m fire crawling slowly through the bushland approximately 10m off the walking track to the sports fields. Crews got to work using live reel hoses and hand tools to black out the area and extinguish all hot spots.

The fire is believed to have been deliberately lit.

πŸ”₯ JOINT HAZARD REDUCTION – WOOLGOOLGA HEADLAND πŸ”₯

On Friday 4th, members of Woolgoolga Rural Fire Service joined our colleagues from Fire and Rescue NSW Station 507 Woolgoolga for a joint hazard reduction operation at Woolgoolga Headland, led by National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS).

The operation was an important opportunity for the agencies to work together to reduce bush fire fuel loads and help protect the surrounding community and environment ahead of the upcoming bush fire season.

A big thank you to everyone involved for their hard work, professionalism and cooperation throughout the day. Multi-agency operations like this are an important part of preparing our community for the risk of bush fires. πŸš’πŸ”₯

Please remember to download and use the Hazards Near Me NSW app. This is one of the best ways to stay informed about current fires, hazard reduction burns, alerts and other incidents in your area.

We also ask that residents don't rely on local pages to find out what is happening or why there is smoke in the area. Social media posts can be delayed, incomplete or incorrect.
