District 12 is offering a free property defence workshop to help residents better prepare for the upcoming fire season. The workshop will cover key topics including understanding fire danger ratings, practical ways to physically prepare your property, and the skills and knowledge needed to safely defend your home during a bushfire.

As part of District 12, Yea Fire Brigade encourages local residents to take advantage of this valuable opportunity to learn from experienced CFA members and improve their bushfire preparedness and safety planning.

CFA District 12 is offering a FREE Defending your Property Workshop.

This session is aimed at residents that may have a plan to defend their property or have a "Shelter in place" option if their fire plan fails.

⏰ Daylight Saving Reminder ⏰

As you turn your clocks for Daylight Saving Time, take a few extra minutes to check your smoke alarms too!

Changing your smoke detector batteries when the clocks change is an easy way to remember this important safety task. A working smoke alarm can provide critical early warning in the event of a fire and could save lives.

✅ Replace the batteries
✅ Press the test button to make sure it's working
✅ Clean away any dust with a soft brush or vacuum
✅ Check the expiry date and replace alarms that are more than 10 years old

A few minutes today could make all the difference tomorrow.
Change your clock. Change your battery. Save a life. 🔋🏠🔥

During the ANZAC Round match between Yea and Alexandra earlier this season, Western Bulldogs players Tim English and James O'Donnell visited Alexandra and learned about the challenges faced by local communities following the January bushfires.

Inspired by the Alexandra Football Netball Club's decision to open its facilities to BlazeAid volunteers, the pair generously donated auction items to help give back. Funds raised were split between CFA Yea and CFA Alexandra.

Yea CFA are incredibly grateful for the donation received from Alexandra Football Netball Club.

Members from Yea CFA were out this morning alongside Glenburn CFA and Victoria Police, supporting the 6th Annual Goulburn Valley Su***de Awareness Walk, organised by the Goulburn Valley Su***de Awareness Group.

The walk commenced at the Yea Railway Station, following the Rail Trail to the ‘Blue Tree’ and back. CFA members and Victoria Police assisted participants to safely cross Melba Highway.

A sausage sizzle at the Railway station afterwards, kindly provided by the Yea Rotary Club, offered a great opportunity for the community to come together and connect after the walk

A great example of local agencies working together showing that community support extends well beyond emergency response, and our members were proud to assist with an event that raises awareness, encourages conversations and brings people together.

Yea Fire Brigade members were busy training on Sunday morning. The training session involved drafting water using Yea Tanker and also the quickfill pump (portable petrol pump for bulk filling trucks). With some equipment challenges, it also presented a valuable learning opportunity for members to practise problem-solving and adapt to changing situations. Regular training like this helps ensure our crews remain prepared, confident and ready to respond when the community needs us most.

A reminder to stay alert and slow down to 40ks when passing emergency vehicles 👌

25/04/2026

Today we stand together to honour the bravery and sacrifice of our servicemen and women.

Their legacy lives on in all of us.

Lest we forget.
