Yeppoon State High School Yeppoon State High School strives to be a centre of educational excellence by providing an innovative learning experience for students.

We encourage and support our students to reach for the STARS. Teaching and learning is at the core of all we do and high quality learning experiences are purposefully designed to develop the attributes of life-long learners. Whilst emphasis is placed on academic outcomes, we believe that the development of a holistic education through the teaching of values and ethics instils in our graduates a sense of decency and respect for others. We are a school, proud of present and past students. We will continue the tradition of publicly recognising the many sporting, cultural, community and academic achievements of our students and staff.

Our Japanese students enjoyed a wonderful annual excursion to Tsuruya Japanese Restaurant. As always, we were warmly welcomed and treated to a delicious meal.

It was a fantastic experience for everyone — from students bravely mastering chopsticks to others already talking about what they will order on next year’s visit, and some very enthusiastic eaters who were more than happy to finish every bite, even helping out with their friends’ meals! There were plenty of smiles, laughter and memorable moments shared around the table.

Students in year 9 STEM were investigating, building and evaluating catapult devices, while examining the principles of energy transfer and projectile motion. The main objective was to optimise performance in relation to distance travelled when launching ping pong balls. Using a standard design template, students modified their designs during their catapult trials by changing independent variables. They then analysed their performance data to support their findings and draw evidence-based conclusions.
