📚☕ Books & Brunch with Lachlan Terry - ONE WEEK TO GO

Join us for a morning of storytelling with Queensland author Lachlan Terry.

Raised on a sheep and cattle property in western Queensland, Lachlan draws on a lifetime of experiences, family history and a deep connection to the bush in his memoir Memories Belonga Me. Through personal stories, oral histories and historical research, the book captures the rich heritage of pioneering families and station life for future generations.

Lachlan will share insights into his writing journey and reflect on the resilience and determination that have shaped his life while living with Primary Lateral Sclerosis (PLS).

🐢 It's Turtle Hour in CQ!

Artificial light can have a big impact on sea turtles, disrupting nesting mothers and making it harder for hatchlings to find their way to the ocean.

Step right up for a day of fun at Yeppoon Lions Tropical Pinefest this Saturday, 17 October!

There’s beachside markets and entertainment from 9am, followed by the Street Parade at 3pm. Be roadside in James St to enjoy the colourful floats and circus-themed fun!

The day wraps up with a fireworks extravaganza at 7.30pm at the Yeppoon Foreshore. 🎆

It's nesting season, which means magpies across the Capricorn Coast are busy raising the next generation.

While they might have a reputation for swooping, magpies are also intelligent, curious birds that remember faces, sing beautifully and are fiercely protective parents.

If you're out and about this spring, give nesting birds a little extra space and take a few simple precautions if you're passing through known nesting areas:

🧢 Pop on a hat or helmet
🚲 Walk your bike through nesting zones
☂️ Use an umbrella for a personal “anti-swoop” shield
🌳 Keep a respectful distance from nesting trees
