Good morning ... my fingers have started to thaw out!!
Thanks everyone for your comments / support on the Senate Inquiry. The report is due in October.

Just a heads up - I'm on my own today in the post office. I'll do my best to keep up with you! 🙂

AND importantly also, the price of stamps is likely to rise again from 1 September. Increasing from $1.70 to $1.85. Bonus though the Concession stamps are not increasing (that's for people on a Centrelink card).

We've had a lot of people ask about their census forms.

You can call 1800 181 227
OR
go on the website
https://form.census.abs.gov.au/get-census-number
put in your mobile number and you will get a one time pin to get a census number, then complete it online.

I hope this information assists those who have not yet received their census instructions. Good luck!

Senate Inquiry - Australia Post retail network

I thought that this was an LPO fight, but really it's a community fight.
There is a Senate Inquiry happening now, in relation to Management of, and plans for, Australia Post's retail network, with particular reference to:
1. Australia Post's engagement with licensees, representative bodies, shareholder ministers and other stakeholders about these plans;
2. the governance, transparency and decision-making processes underpinning those plans;
3. the crucial role that licensed post offices play in delivering services to support local communities, particularly in regional, rural and remote Australia;
4. alternative business models to support the sustainability of Australia Post's retail network;
5. the adequacy of Australia Post's evidence to the Environment and Communications Legislation Committee at the 2026–27 Budget estimates' hearing on 27 May 2026;
6. and any other related matters.
Submissions are invited and close tomorrow Friday 7 August.
