The Cuba’s Ambassador to Barbados, Yanet Stable Cárdenas, has granted interviews and made statements to various Barbadian radio, and television media outlets.
During a press conference held on May 20, 2026, at the Embassy of Cuba in Barbados, the Ambassador engaged with representatives from several media organizations and shared the platform with members of the Barbados-Cuba Friendship Association, the Hibiscus Foundation for Sport and Culture, and members of the Barbadian delegation that visited Cuba for the May Day celebrations.
Participants shared their impressions and experiences after witnessing firsthand the difficult conditions facing Cuba as a result of the tightening of the United States’ economic, commercial, and financial blockade, the ongoing energy crisis, and the increased coercive measures adopted by the Trump Administration. These actions, supported by executive orders implemented by that administration, are intended to suffocate the Cuban economy and subject the Cuban people to severe material shortages and unmet basic needs.
More recently, during an appearance on the morning television program Mornin Barbados, Ambassador Yanet Stable Cárdenas and Barbados’ Ambassador to CARICOM, David Comissiong, discussed the current situation in Cuba and underscored the importance of international solidarity.
During the interview, the Ambassador reaffirmed Cuba’s peaceful nature and its commitment to living in peace with all nations. She emphasized that the Cuban people are hardworking, resilient, and deeply committed to solidarity, having learned to confront and overcome enormous challenges throughout their history. She also outlined the efforts being undertaken to accelerate the country’s transition to renewable energy sources as part of its strategy for sustainable development and energy security.
In statements made to Starcom Network News, the Ambassador categorically rejected the accusations brought against the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, and argued that the United States lacks jurisdiction to bring such charges. She also expressed the support of the staff of the Embassy of Cuba in Barbados for the demonstrations of condemnation and rejection carried out by the Cuban people at the Anti-Imperialist Tribune, reflecting their unanimous opposition to these allegations.
In each of her public interventions, the Ambassador has strongly condemned the escalation of U.S. measures and sanctions against Cuba, describing them as part of a persistent policy aimed at undermining the country's stability and development.
She reiterated that Cuba is a nation committed to peace, while emphasizing that it will defend its independence, sovereignty, and right to self-determination against any attempt at aggression or external interference.
