It was a night of rich cultural fusion at the BTMI x Ebiyayo Supper Club media dinner, where Nigerian and Barbadian flavours blended in West Broadway, Tribeca, NY, on Tuesday.
With culinary artistry from Nigerian Chef Tayo and award-winning Barbadian Chef Damian Leach, plus cocktails by 2025 Mixologist of the Year Alex Chandler, guests, including journalists and influencers, enjoyed a memorable five-course journey blending family, tradition, and community.
The event also celebrated Barbados’ Food and Rum Festival and the island’s 60th Anniversary of Independence and fifth year as a republic. The Honourable Ian Gooding-Edghill, Minister of Tourism and International Transport, and BTMI CEO Andrea Franklin also addressed the gathering, highlighting the power of food to bridge cultures and build connections.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. Ms. Andrea Franklin was awarded the distinguished ‘Women in Caribbean Tourism Award: Director of Tourism 2026’ during the Caribbean Women’s Leadership Dinner & Awards.
Ms. Franklin was selected for this honour by her fellow women leaders in the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) during a ceremony at the InterContinental Times Square, held on Monday night, as part of CTO’s Caribbean Week. Her achievement stands as a testament to her impact, leadership, and reputation within the industry.

The BTMI Latin America team is on the ground in Caracas, Venezuela, this week for a series of strategic meetings with key players across the travel and tourism sector.
Today, Director Corey Garrett and BDO Ashleigh Phillips participated in tourism-related bilateral discussions with Minister of Tourism Mrs. Daniela Cabello, Deputy Minister for International Tourism Mr. Marco Medina, Ambassador Aquinas Clarke, and Ms. Estefania Lattasa of the Embassy of Barbados in Venezuela, and President of VENETUR Mrs. Dheliz Alvarez to discuss continued collaboration and opportunities for growth between our tourism sectors.
Discussions also focused on advancing initiatives under the existing Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. (BTMI) and VENETUR, reinforcing the shared commitment to strengthening tourism ties and expanding cooperation between Barbados and Venezuela.
As the week continues, the team will also engage with airline partners, travel agencies, media, and other industry stakeholders to strengthen relationships, expand market presence, and drive increased interest in Barbados within the Venezuelan market.

The BTMI Europe team was pleased to participate in Travelution’s Night of the Destinations, a special charity event held at the iconic Kurhaus Hotel in The Hague. Bringing together destinations and travel industry partners for a meaningful cause, the evening raised funds for two Dutch charities, Reis Met je Hart and The Code (ECPAT), whose work creates positive social impact through travel and community engagement.

Barbados is making a strong impact at the Caribbean Tourism Organization's (CTO) Caribbean Week 2026 in New York.
Minister of Tourism and International Transport Ian Gooding-Edghill, who is also the CTO's Ministerial Chair, delivered an inspiring keynote address during the opening ceremony. He also took part in the “Around the Caribbean in 60 Minutes,” during which he shared a snapshot of all the exciting projects and events coming up this year.
The session underscored Barbados’s role as a regional leader, highlighting initiatives to diversify markets, enhance visitor experiences, and support sustainable tourism. In addition, BTMI CEO, Andrea Franklin, made a significant contribution as one of the 'Inside the CTO Committees: Insights & Perspectives by Chairpersons' panelists. This year’s theme, “One Caribbean: Infinite Experiences,” set the stage as Barbados showcased the performance of the industry, sustainability leadership, and its bold vision for regional tourism.
