Title: Mrs. Shanaj changed her life by goat rearing

Unemployment is a major problem of Bangladesh. Paying school fees for their children was nearly impossible. This is the story of a house wife at Sayedpur-Sitakund-Chittagong, who is not well educated and her husband income is not enough for their family and children. Then things changed. Mrs Shanaj a successful woman has started her goat rearing with 05 goats at the time of enrollment. The goats were managed under the semi-intensive management system i, e. in the morning they were sent out for open grazing and on the return at evening they were provided with cultivated fodders, little bit of concentrate and kitchen waste. Goat is considered as a cow of the poor because they give milk, meat, skin and hair to them. Goat rearing will definitely increase the earning of women and some sort of reduction can be noticed in unemployment.
Mrs Shanaj talked with Assistant Value Chain Facilitator Md. Osman Gani and shared his misery at the early stage of YPSA-PACE project. Then Young Power in Social Action (YPSA) selected her as a Model Farmer under PACE project and supported a house with perch (Macha) for goat rearing. Shanaj got 30000/= (Thirty Thousand Tk only) loan from YPSA and bought 05 goats at a time. She rears this goat with all types of technical support provided by YPSA. Now Shanaj has more than 20 goats in her house. She sells 04 goats when her daughter gets married. She has no longer problem to maintain her family. She is very happy now.
