SAT & DSD
Company – Means the owner of the
ship.
Security incident – means any
suspicious act or circumstance
threatening the security of a ship.
or Any incident which breach the
security.
Security Level - means the
qualification of the degree of risk
that a security incident will occur.
Security Level 1 (Normal)- means
the level for which minimum
appropriate protective security
measures shall be maintained at all
times.
Security Level 2 (Heightened) -
means the level for which
appropriate additional protective
security measures shall be for a
period of time as a result
heightened risk of a security
incident.
Security Level 3 (Exceptional)-
means the level for which further
specific protective security
measures shall be maintained for a
limited period of time when a
security incident is probable or
imminent although it may not be
possible to identify the specific
target.
Restricted Area- A restricted area
means a space that is essential to
the operation, control or safety of
the ship.
The ship security plan should
identify restricted areas.
The purpose of identify restricted
areas is –
• To prevent unauthorized access.
• For safety of ship personnel.
• Protect cargo & ship stores from
tempering.

7. Spaces containing dangerous
goods/ hazardous substances.

A person who is secreted on a ship
without the consent of ship owner/
master and who is detected
onboard the ship after it has
departed from a port/ while
unloading in the port of arrival.

ship to ship. Equipment may
