Joint statement by the Diplomatic Network of the Media Freedom Coalition in Bangladesh on World Press Freedom Day 2026

H.E. Lulzim Pllana received a delegation from American International University-Bangladesh, led by Prof. Dr. Saiful Islam, Vice-Chancellor, and Md. Abdur Rahman, Pro Vice-Chancellor, at the Embassy. The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation in education and academic exchange between Kosovo and Bangladeshi institutions.

H.E. Lulzim Pllana joined as a speaker at NIICE’s webinar, “How the World Sees Balen’s Leadership in Nepal: International Perspectives on Nepal’s New Government,” and to share Kosovo’s perspective on Nepal’s evolving political landscape. In his remarks, he reaffirmed Kosovo’s high regard for Nepal, highlighting closer ties, economic and academic cooperation, and future engagement. The discussion brought together distinguished experts, professors and diplomats from UN, United States, the European Union, and the regional countries.

H.E. Lulzim Pllana met with Dr. Asif Iqbal, President of the Indian Economic Trade Organization, and Mr. Ankit Jain, Honorary Trade Commissioner of the India EU Trade Council of Finland, at the Embassy for a warm and constructive meeting.

Discussions focused on strengthening economic relations and enhancing people to people engagement. Views were also exchanged on tourism promotion, cooperation linked to the Mediterranean Olympics, India-Kosovo Trade Council, and other matters of mutual interest.

The Embassy of the Republic of Kosovo in Dhaka celebrated Kosovo’s 18th anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Kosovo with a reception on 19 April 2026, attended by distinguished guests from government, diplomatic missions, business, academia, media, and civil society.

H.E. Ambassador Lulzim PLLANA, highlighted Kosovo’s democratic progress and reaffirmed commitment to stronger bilateral cooperation and partnership between Kosovo and Bangladesh. The programme was graced by Chief Guest H.E. Mr. Zahir Uddin Swapon, Hon’ble Minister of Information and Broadcasting, who expressed support for closer cooperation in trade, investment, education, culture, and people-to-people exchanges between the two friendly nations.

Lulzim Pllana held a cordial meeting today with Hon’ble Minister Mr. Zahir Uddin Swapon, MP, and Hon’ble State Minister Mr. Yeaser Khan Chowdhury at the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, alongside Hon’ble Adviser for Policy and Strategy of PMO, Dr. Zahed Ur Rahman. Ambassador Lulzim Pllana attended the inaugural sitting of Bangladesh’s 13th Parliament at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban in Dhaka, marking the beginning of the new legislative term led by Prime Minister and Leader of the House Tarique Rahman.

On this occasion, the Embassy of the Republic of Kosovo congratulates the people of Bangladesh on the commencement of the new parliamentary term and reaffirms Kosovo’s support for the country’s democratic development and prosperity. The Embassy also extends its congratulations to the newly elected Speaker of the Parliament, Major (Retd) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed.
