GCA project has commemorated this day through a series of events across the five upazilas â Koyra, Dacope, Paikgacha, Shyamnagar, and Assasuni â within our project area.
As a key initiative aligned with the project's objectives, is actively supporting rural women and girls by promoting climate-adaptive livelihoods. By empowering women beneficiaries, the project aims to enhance the adaptive capacities of coastal agricultural communities.
Additionally, GCA project is implementing rainwater harvesting systems in the project area. This initiative ensures gender-responsive access to year-round safe drinking water for targeted households. This not only empowers women and girls but also allows them to reinvest time and cost savings, along with health co-benefits, into improving livelihoods and seizing educational and income-generating opportunities.

The Gender-responsive Coastal Adaptation (GCA) project is empowering the climate vulnerable coastal communities, especially women, as âchange agentsâ to plan, implement, and manage climate resilient livelihoods and drinking water solutions. The project is ensuring that coastal communities, especially women, adopt and implement climate-resilient livelihoods; It is also establishing value-chains/market linkages for these alternatives resilient livelihoods and Communities have knowledge and capacity to continue to monitor, safeguard and adapt livelihoods and livelihood strategies to evolving climate risks.

Empowering the next Generation for Climate Action and Gender Equality! đđą Through the Adaptive Learning Campaign, GCA project is nurturing awareness, sustainable habits, and peer learning about climate change and gender responsiveness among 2,945 adolescents in Khulna & Satkhira. By instilling a climate and gender perspective, GCA project is shaping change agents who'll lead resilient, inclusive communities.

The 6th Project Implementation Committee (PIC) of GCA Project (DPHE Part) took place today at the DPHE auditorium. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Md. Sarwar Hossain ,Chief Engineer of DPHE. Mr. Md. Iqbal Hussain, the National Project Director of GCA, Mohammad Iftekhar Hossain, Project Coordination Specialist and representatives from relevant ministries, UNDP and Senior Officials of DPHE attended the meeting.
The objective of the meeting was to review the progress of the last PIC meeting and the overall progress of the water component. The Project is ensuring year-round safe drinking water facilities for nearly 31 thousand households in five Upazilas of Khulna and Satkhira Districts.

The 7th Project Implementation Committee-Department of Women Affairs (PIC-DWA) meeting of Gender-responsive Coastal Adaptation (GCA) project was held on May 10, 2023 at the Conference Room of GCA project, Department of Women Affairs (DWA), Dhaka. The meeting was chaired by Ms. Farida Pervin, Director General, DWA and Additional Secretary.
The objectives of the meeting were to review the progress of the Livelihood Component and Distribution of BDT 1185 lakh allotted in RADP among the beneficiaries through EFT. Mr. Md. Iqbal Hussain, National Project Director, Project GCA and Joint Secretary at MoWCA, Mohammad Iftekhar Hossain, Project Coordination Specialist, Project GCA along with other PIC members from MoWCA, DWA, ERD, IMED participated in this meeting in person and virtually through zoom platform.
