A formal programme was held at the Embassy premises this morning to mark the occasion.

The Embassy, in collaboration with the Bangladesh-Nepal Friendship Society, organized a “Nepal Cultural Evening” at the District Shilpakala Academy, Manikganj, on 16 May 2026.
In his welcome remarks, Ambassador Mr. Ghanshyam Bhandari highlighted the deep-rooted connections between Nepal and Bangladesh in the fields of art, culture, and language and underscored the importance of strong people-to-people contacts as a cornerstone of bilateral relations. He noted that the programme was organized to celebrate and further deepen the close cultural and artistic links between Nepal and Bangladesh.
The Chief Guest of the event, Hon. Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism of Bangladesh, H.E. Ms. Afroza Khanam, commended the Embassy and the Friendship Society for their efforts in strengthening the longstanding historical and cultural bonds between Nepal and Bangladesh. Reflecting on the shared linguistic and artistic heritage, the Minister stressed the importance of cultural and people-to-people exchanges to further deepen friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
Deputy Commissioner of Manikganj Ms. Nazmun Ara Sultana, Superintendent of Police Manikganj Mr. Mohammad Sarwar Alam, BPM, Chancellor of Pokhara Academy Mr. Padma Raj Dhakal, District Child Officer of Manikganj Mr. Dewan Hafizur Rahman, President of Bangladesh-Nepal Friendship Society Mr. Moshiur Ahmed, and General Secretary Mr. Salahuddin Kutu also spoke during the programme.
The Cultural Programme featured fourteen artistic performances, including traditional dances, folk songs and musical presentations by visiting artists of Pokhara Academy, artists from the District Shilpakala Academy, and Shishu Academy, Manikganj. Nepali artists showcased traditional music and dance forms, including Sorathi, Sakhiya, Lathi, Salaijo, and Kaura, among others. Bangladeshi artists also presented a Nepali dance alongside Bangladeshi folk dances and musical performances.
The programme brought together representatives from government and non-government agencies, cultural enthusiasts, civil society leaders, friends of Nepal, media persons, and Nepali students studying in Manikgunj.

The Embassy, in collaboration with the Bangladesh-Nepal Friendship Society, organized “Nepal Festival-2026” at the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in Dhaka today. The Festival featured a ‘Food Fest’ as well as a ‘Cultural Programme’ aimed at showcasing Nepal’s diverse culinary and cultural traditions.
Speaking at the inaugural session, Ambassador Mr. Ghanshyam Bhandari stated that the objective of the Festival was not only to promote the richness and diversity of Nepal’s culture and cuisine, but also to celebrate the artistic, musical, and culinary affinities between Nepal and Bangladesh. He emphasized that these shared cultural heritages constitute a strong foundation for the multifaceted relationship between the two countries and continue to reinforce enduring people-to-people ties and mutual understanding.
In his remarks, Chief Guest Hon. Minister for Cultural Affairs of Bangladesh H.E. Mr. Nitai Roy Chowdhury appreciated the initiative and expressed confidence that the event would play a crucial role in bringing the peoples of the two countries closer. He also highlighted the importance of promoting cultural and people-to-people exchanges to consolidate the bonds of friendship and explore further avenues of collaboration.
Director General of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy Mr. SK Rezauddin Ahmed, Chancellor of Pokhara Academy Mr. Padma Raj Dhakal, and President of Bangladesh-Nepal Friendship Society Mr. Moshiur Ahmed also spoke during the inaugural session.

Chief Guest H.E. Mr. Chowdhury, accompanied by other guests present on the occasion, visited the stalls of the ‘Food Fest’. A variety of authentic Nepali delicacies were served across eight different stalls, set up primarily with the contribution of Nepali students studying in Bangladesh.
The Festival brought together representatives from government and non-government agencies, cultural and culinary enthusiasts, friends of Nepal, media persons, and members of the Nepali community in Bangladesh.

Ambassador Ghanashyam Bhandari visited Rangpur Community Medical College and Rangpur Community Dental College this afternoon.
During an interaction with Nepali students studying there, the Ambassador addressed their concerns and queries. He also met with the college authorities and discussed matters concerning the wellbeing of the students.

The Embassy organized a programme on ‘Nepal-Bangladesh Relations: Advancing Economic Cooperation’ in Rangpur this evening.
Ambassador Mr. Ghanashyam Bhandari, in his address, underscored the wide-ranging opportunities for bilateral cooperation in areas such as trade, transit, energy, connectivity, education, and tourism. He also emphasized the importance of strengthening business connections to foster a more robust economic partnership between the two countries. In this context, he commended the Rangpur business community for their contributions to promoting private sector engagement between Nepal and Bangladesh.
First Secretary Ms. Yojana Bamjan made a presentation outlining the main areas of economic cooperation with particular emphasis on trade, transit and connectivity, energy, and tourism, among others. She highlighted the progress achieved so far in these sectors and noted the prospects for further collaboration.
The presentation was followed by an interactive session, during which participants focused on ways to further advance Nepal-Bangladesh economic partnership.
Additional District Magistrate of Rangpur Mr. Christopher Himal Ritchil, President of Rangpur Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mr. Md. Ghulam Zakaria, Acting President of Rangpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mr. Manjur Ahmed, President of Rangpur Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry Ms. Shahanaz Parvin Shahin, also spoke at the event, stressing the need to strengthen linkages between business communities of the two countries.
Participants including representatives of various Chambers of Commerce and Industries and business organizations, prominent business leaders, travel and tour entrepreneurs and media persons based in Rangpur attended the programme.
