One of the most devastating fires in recent history has struck the Korail slum. Home to nearly three hundred thousand people, this densely populated settlement saw about 1,500 homes reduced to ashes within hours. The people of this community often labeled as the “lower class” and long subjected to social inequality are now living under the open sky with their families and children, having lost everything.

As conscientious human beings, witnessing another person forced to survive in such conditions after losing their entire livelihood is nothing short of shameful and deeply heartbreaking. It raises a painful question about our collective humanity. In this critical moment, we stand beside the victims of the Korail fire from our respective positions. For humanity, for the people—we stand together.

আপনারা সকলেই জানেন, গত কয়েক মাস ধরে আমরা ফিলিস্তিনের মানুষের পাশে সরাসরি দাঁড়ানোর জন্য একটি কার্যকর উপায় খুঁজে আসছি। কিন্তু দুঃখজনকভাবে, ইসরায়েল-ফিলিস্তিন সীমান্তে পরিস্থিতি চরমভাবে অবনতি হয়েছে — এমনকি একটি খাদ্যদানা পর্যন্ত ভেতরে ঢুকতে দেওয়া হচ্ছে না। ফলে, আন্তর্জাতিক সংস্থাগুলোর হাজার হাজার ত্রাণবাহী ট্রাক সীমান্তে আটকে রয়েছে, এবং ফিলিস্তিনবাসী চরম মানবিক সংকটের মধ্যে দিন কাটাচ্ছেন। তারা খাদ্য, পানি ও ওষুধের মতো মৌলিক চাহিদা থেকেও বঞ্চিত — এক দুর্বিষহ ও অমানবিক জীবনের মুখোমুখি হচ্ছেন প্রতিনিয়ত। এই পরিস্থিতি থেকে উত্তরণের জন্য আমরা নিরন্তর চেষ্টা করেছি তাদের কাছে সরাসরি সহায়তা পৌঁছে দেওয়ার পথ খুঁজে পেতে। অবশেষে, দীর্ঘদিনের চেষ্টার পর আমরা একটি সহজলভ্য এবং কার্যকর সমাধান পেয়েছি: ফিলিস্তিনি মানুষের মাধ্যমে আমরা সরাসরি ফিলিস্তিনের মানুষকেই সাহায্য করবো। এখনই সময় তাদের পাশে দাঁড়ানোর। আসুন, আমাদের ফিলিস্তিনি ভাই-বোনদের সহায়তায় এগিয়ে আসি। আপনাদের সহযোগিতা শুধু প্রয়োজন নয় — তা অপরিহার্য। আমরা একসাথে এই অন্ধকারে আশার আলো পৌঁছে দিতে পারি।

As you all know, we have been actively searching for a way to directly support the people of Palestine over the past few months. However, the situation at the Israel-Palestine border remains dire — not even a single grain of food is being allowed through. As a result, thousands of relief trucks from international organizations are stuck at the border, unable to deliver aid. This blockade has left the people of Gaza in unimaginable suffering, deprived of basic necessities and forced to endure inhumane conditions. In light of this crisis, we have been relentlessly exploring ways to reach them directly. Finally, after much effort, we have discovered a practical and effective solution: we will provide aid through the Palestinians themselves — empowering them to support one another from within. Now more than ever, they need us. Let us stand with our Palestinian brothers and sisters. Your support is not just appreciated — it is essential. Together, we can bring hope where it is needed most.

Nowshad Hasan Himu was a courageous and selfless individual who gained recognition for his volunteer efforts during the tragic Rana Plaza collapse in 2013, one of the deadliest industrial disasters in history. Himu worked tirelessly to rescue and assist survivors and recover the deceased from the rubble. His experience profoundly impacted him, and he dedicated his life to advocating for justice for the victims and survivors of the tragedy.

Unfortunately, the systemic indifference to his demands for justice and accountability left him deeply disheartened. Struggling with the psychological toll of his experiences and the lack of progress in addressing the issues, he tragically took his own life in 2019. His death highlighted the long-lasting trauma faced by first responders and the ongoing fight for justice for the victims of the Rana Plaza disaster.

Himu’s life and sacrifice remain a powerful reminder of the human cost of negligence and the urgent need for accountability in ensuring workplace safety and human rights in industries.

A wise and brave warrior was born in the oppressed Bengal named Birshreshta Matiur Rahman

Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman is honored as a Birshreshtha—the highest military award in Bangladesh—for his unparalleled bravery and sacrifice during the Liberation War of 1971. His heroism embodies deep patriotism and a willingness to risk everything to see his country free.

Matiur Rahman served in the Pakistan Air Force but secretly aligned himself with the Bengali nationalist movement when the struggle for independence intensified. He understood that the resources of the Pakistan military, if not sabotaged, would be used against the freedom fighters. With immense courage, he devised a plan to defect from the Pakistan Air Force and join the Bangladesh Liberation War.

The most defining moment of his bravery came on "August 20, 1971". Matiur Rahman attempted to hijack a Pakistan Air Force T-33 aircraft to bring it to India, where it could be used to support the Bengali resistance. He persuaded a young Bengali trainee pilot, Rashid Minhas, to assist him in the mission. While the two were airborne, Matiur tried to seize control of the plane. However, Rashid Minhas resisted and struggled to regain command of the aircraft.

In the fight, the plane crashed near the Indian border, killing Matiur Rahman instantly. Despite his tragic end, Matiur’s act was monumental. His sacrifice highlighted the deep commitment of the Bengali people, even within the enemy’s military, to the dream of a free Bangladesh.

For his extraordinary courage, unwavering dedication, and ultimate sacrifice, Matiur Rahman was posthumously awarded the **
"Birshreshtha" title. His bravery continues to inspire generations of Bangladeshis, symbolizing the indomitable spirit of those who fought for the nation's independence.

We pay respect and honor to Birshrestha Matiur Rahman from the bottom of our hearts. Our Bengal is built on the autobiography of brave Bengalis like him.
