Gift For Good is a program that was initially formed with the pledge to collect used old materials/products from respected donors and distribute them to those who needed them. We welcomed donations of quality first/second-hand wide range of items and provided those items to the people living in slums or remote areas.
However, as the global pandemic, COVID 19 arrived in Bangladesh and the government had to implement a lockdown; along with a medical condition it also brought a massive social problem where people from the lower and lower-middle-income group were facing difficulty in managing food for their survival.
We then immediately shifted our full focus on arranging emergency food supplies to these affected families. Ever since the crisis started we have distributed food supplies to 6772 families. We have provided these reliefs to some of the most marginalized community in Bangladesh who are often neglected during these times of crisis:
1. Gypsy or Bede as known in Bengali
2. S*x worker communities
3. Transgender Communities
4. Indigenous Communities
There are many regions or places in Bangladesh that are remote and difficult to access and so when a disaster occurs, very few actually have the strength to reach and distribute aid to the poverty-stricken people in those regions. Leveraging our platform Volunteer Opportunities we are connected to a pool of volunteers and we can reach such difficult and remote destinations. We have also distributed relief to the below locations outside the capital Dhaka:
1. Munshiganj 2. Sirajganj 3. Tangail 4. Lalmonirhat 5. Khulna 6. Barisal 7. Coxโs Bazar and many others!
