শেখ হাসিনা নিউ ইয়র্ক সফরে এসে দিনের পর দিন হোটেলে অপেক্ষা করতেন যদি আমেরিকান সরকারের কারো সাথে কোনোরকমে একটা মিটিং আয়োজন করা যায়। আমেরিকা সফরে এসে সাদা চামড়ার কারো সাথে মিটিংয়ের একটা ছবি সংবাদপত্রে প্রকাশ নাহলে কি মান ইজ্জত থাকে?

তার পররাষ্ট্রমন্ত্রী মোমেন বলেছিলেন হাসিনার ইংল্যান্ড ও আমেরিকা সফরের আগে সেসব দেশের সরকারের উচ্চ পর্যায়ের মানুষের সাথে মিটিং অনুরোধ করে ইমেইল করেছিলেন কিন্তু কেউ উত্তরই দেয়নি। ভারতে হাসিনা আর পুতুলের সাথে বাইডেন হলওয়ে তে সেলফি তুলেছিলেন এটা নিয়ে দেশে দুই সপ্তাহ ধরে ক্লাস ফাইভের ছেলেমেয়েদের মতো হাসিনা সহ আওয়ামীলীগের নেতৃত্বের হাস্যকর উচ্ছ্বাস নিশ্চয়ই সবার মনে আছে!

ড. ইউনুসেরর ৩ দিনের সংক্ষিপ্ত নিউ ইয়র্ক সফরে যাদের সাথে bilateral মিটিং করবেন, শেখ হাসিনা গত ৫ বছরে এত্তজন হাই প্রোফাইল foreign dignitaries দের সাথে মিটিং করেছেন বলে মনে হয়না!

উনি ৮৪ বছরের বয়স্ক মানুষ, বাংলাদেশের প্রধান উপদেষ্টার পদ থেকে তার পাওয়ার কিছুই নাই। সম্মান, পরিচিতি, খ্যাতি, টাকা তার সব আছে। আমাদের দেশকে উনি দিতে পারেন অনেক কিছু যদি আমরা ফালতু বিষয় নিয়ে বিতর্ক না করে, নিজেদের মধ্যে ভেদাভেদ বাদ দিয়ে তাঁকে একটু সহযোগিতা করি। এমন সুযোগ এই জাতির জীবনে নিকট ভবিষ্যতে আর আসবেনা!

আমার দেশ এই মুহূর্তে পৃথিবীর একমাত্র দেশ, যার সরকার প্রধান একজন নোবেল laureate। ২৭ সেপ্টেম্বর জাতিসংঘের সাধারণ অধিবেশনে ড. ইউনুস যখন বক্তৃতা দিতে দাঁড়াবেন, টিভির পর্দায় চোখ রাখুন। আমার বিশ্বাস যে, সারা পৃথিবীর সরকার প্রধানরা চেয়ার ছেড়ে উঠে দাঁড়িয়ে লম্বা সময় নিয়ে হাততালি দিয়ে উনাকে সম্মান জানাবে। আমার দেশ, আপনি, আমি আমরা সবাই এই অনন্য সম্মানের অংশীদার!

Duenna is a ‘‘Women Only’’ micro bus services with a vision to eradicating women harrasent in the public transport.

‘‘Being a mother of three daughters, I know how many times my daughters have been touched inappropriately in the public transport. I know that the situation is almost identical to all the other mothers. Therefore, I decided to take a small but bold step to remove this social problem so that this world could be a safer place for women to live in. I firmly believe that this is the responsibility I owe to my daughters and I have for other girls’’. (Owner’s Statement).

Initially, we introduced the service only in a specific route (Uttara – Bashundhara) with a quick expansion to all routes across the country. We view business as a means of solving an existing social problem with an intention to making a positive contribution to the society and the country at large.
