The IUB Library, in collaboration with Turnitin, organized a faculty development session on Turnitin Feedback Studio and AI Writing Detection on September 8, 2026, at the Independent University, Bangladesh. The session aimed to promote academic integrity and enhance faculty understanding of Turnitin tools in the era of artificial intelligence.
The program began with an opening speech by Mr. Md. Shahajada Masud Anowarul Haque, Librarian, IUB, who welcomed the participants and highlighted the importance of maintaining academic integrity and fostering the responsible use of AI in higher education.
The session was conducted by Mr. Gautam Raval, Customer Success Manager, Turnitin South Asia, and was attended by Vice Chancellor Prof. M. Tamim, PhD, Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Daniel W. Lund, faculty members, and staff.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. M. Tamim underscored the importance of academic integrity and ethical conduct among faculty members.
The session covered plagiarism and text similarity, factors influencing similarity scores, procedures for addressing plagiarism, and the Turnitin approach to detecting potential
AI-generated content. Discussions also included storage of submissions in the Turnitin database and considerations for opting in or out of content repository storage.
Participants were introduced to the process of creating Turnitin classes and assignments and learned about the support services and learning resources available to users.
The session provided practical guidance on using Turnitin tools to support ethical academic practices, enhance feedback mechanisms, and address emerging challenges associated with AI-generated content.
