[BMSS at the National Young Health Conference 2026]
BMSS proudly participated in the National Young Health Conference 2026, held on 10 May 2026 at Bangladesh Medical University in collaboration with UNICEF Bangladesh. A dedicated delegation of 10 representatives joined this inspiring platform focused on youth leadership, public health advocacy, and Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR).
We were honored to have the presence and valuable discussions of Dr. Ashrafi Ahmad, NDC, Director General of DGFP; Prof. Dr. Khan Moinuddin Al Mahmud Sohel, Director General of DGHSE; Dr. Gazi Md. Saifuzzaman, Director General of Department of Youth Development; Dr. Hossain Zillur Rahman, Executive Chairperson of Power and Participation Research Center (PPRC); Prof. Dr. Md. Atiqul Haque, Chairman of DPHI, BMU; Prof. Dr. Firoza Begum, President of OGSB; Dr. Dewan Emdadul Haque, Health Manager of UNICEF Bangladesh; and Dr. Malalay Ahmadzai, Chief of Health, UNICEF.
A research presentation was delivered by Vice President for Finance, Dr. Shahjalal Hossain Sium, on “Assessing impacts on mental health of young pregnant women due to social unrest in Bangladesh 2024: A cross sectional study across eight divisions.” BMSS delegates Misbah Uz Zamal, Arbina Muntaha, and Nusrat Islam Humayra showcased outstanding performances in the debate competition. Aquib Ahmed Tahsin, National Officer of SCORA, contributed as a panel discussant, sharing valuable insights on barriers and youth engagement. Ridnin Imran Riz proudly secured third position in the Young Health Quiz Competition, while Mahbir Mustafa and MD. Shahriar also achieved notable positions in the quiz competition.
BMSS continues to inspire and empower young voices through leadership, advocacy, research, and active engagement in global health initiatives, striving towards a healthier, stronger, and more inclusive future for the next generation.

[BMSS at the Youth Consultation Workshop on AMR Country Statement in Bangladesh]
On 9 May 2026, BMSS had the privilege of participating in the Youth Consultation Workshop on AMR Country Statement in Bangladesh, organized with the support of the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH), WHO, FAO, and UNEP. The workshop brought together passionate youth voices, health professionals, and stakeholders to discuss the growing challenge of Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) and the importance of a collaborative One Health approach.

[Event Highlights - The Science of Sampling & Data Collection by UAMCLC x ThesisHub]
On 2nd May 2026, Uttara Adhunik Medical College Local Committee (UAMCLC), in collaboration with ThesisHub Research and Consultancy, successfully organized an engaging online session titled “The Science of Sampling & Data Collection.”
The session was conducted by Dr. Irfan Nowroze Noor, Assistant Professor (Epidemiology), OSD,DGHS, whose enthusiastic and approachable teaching style made the session highly interactive and insightful for all participants.
Throughout the session, participants explored the fundamentals of research methodology with a strong focus on sampling methods. Students gained a clearer understanding of both probability and non-probability sampling along with their different types and real-life applications in research.
One of the most impactful aspects of the session was the active interaction between the facilitator and participants. What truly set the session apart was Dr. Nowroze sir’s genuine eagerness to engage with participants; he welcomed every question with patience and insight, ensuring that no curiosity went unanswered.
The session created a valuable learning environment where students were able to strengthen their research foundation, connect theoretical knowledge with practical application and develop greater confidence in understanding research design and sampling strategies.
This initiative reflects UAMCLC's continued commitment to nurturing research culture among medical students -one session, one skill and one curious mind at a time.

[Event Highlights ~ Project Aparajeyo: From Screening to Support]
On 28th April 2026, at Marks medical college, "Project Aparajeyo: From Screening to Support" unfolded as more than just a mental health program it became a journey from awareness to understanding, from silence to support.
Organized by Bangladesh Medical Students' Society in collaboration with Base Care Foundation, this initiative brought together medical students in a shared space of learning, reflection, and connection.
The collaborative case discussions transformed the environment into an interactive learning space, where participants worked through reallife scenarios, explored underlying causes, and built practical coping strategies together. These moments of shared thinking truly highlighted the power of peer learning and empathy.
The introduction of the Aparajeyo App added a new dimension bridging awareness with accessibility, and offering a safe, stigma-free platform for self-assessment and support.
