On 28 April 2026, Dasho Karma Hamu Dorjee, Ambassador of Bhutan to Bangladesh, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Khandakar Abdul Muktadir, Minister of Commerce.

Kutshab congratulated His Excellency on BNP’s decisive victory in Bangladesh's 13th general elections and on his assumption of office. During the meeting, both sides discussed ways to further strengthen bilateral cooperation in trade, energy and other key sectors, emphasizing the need to fast-track ongoing negotiations. Investment opportunities in Gelephu Mindfulness City and the establishment of Bhutanese Special Economic Zone in Kurigram were also discussed.

Dasho Karma Hamu Dorjee, Ambassador of Bhutan to Bangladesh made a familiarization visit to the Chattogrom Port. During the visit, she called on the Rear Admiral S M Moniruzzamn (OSP, ndc, ncc, psc), the Chairman of the Chattogrom Port Authority and Mr. Mohammed Shafi Uddin, Commissioner, Custom House, Chattogrom. The visit proved useful in understanding the functioning of these two agencies and to discuss future opportunities for Bhutan to trade via the Chattogram Port and other Bangladeshi river and sea ports.

Besides, Dasho made a visit to the Korean Exports Processing Zone (KEPZ) and met with the managements of KEPZ and Youngone Corporation to have a better understanding of the KEPZ’s model. She visited a few factories and facilities within the KEPZ.

Dasho also met the Bhutanese students studying in Chattogram.
