General information

Objectives:

Advocacy and lobbying for incorporation and ratification of various international instruments by the Government and also for enactment of human rights friendly laws and necessary amendments of existing laws;
Fighting impunity and promotion of international justice and prevention of torture;
Documentation, fact finding, monitoring, investigation and research on human rights abuses, including custodial death, rape and torture, , violations of freedom of expression, political repression, and issues relating to national and local government elections;
Fostering mass awareness on rights and duties;
Mobilising and networking among the activities of its members and enhancing institutional capabilities of individual groups, organisations and agencies on human rights issues;
Advocacy, lobbying and campaign for people’s participation in governance issues and also for introducing participatory democracy in order to ensure good governance;
Monitoring of national and local government elections for ensuring a free and fair electoral process;

Organising seminars, workshops and symposiums on various human rights and related issues and attending such programs organised by others.
