On 13th April 2026 a Workshop on “Advancing the Status of Teachers in Bangladesh: Progress, Gaps and Way Forward under the ILO/UNESCO Recommendation concerning the Status of Teachers (1966)” was held at the International Mother Language Institute Conference Hall. The programme organized by Bangladesh National Commission for UNESCO provided a structured platform for the key national stakeholders to collectively review progress, identify gaps, and discuss priorities for further implementation of the 1966 Recommendation in Bangladesh.

On 8 April 2026, Mr. Abul Khaleque, Secretary General of the Bangladesh National Commission for UNESCO and Secretary of SHED, Ministry of Education, paid his first visit to the BNCU office.
Though brief, the meeting was filled with warmth, enthusiasm, and meaningful exchange. Having informed of the delicate role of our office in fostering collaboration with UNESCO and other government institutions, his words instilled in us a renewed sense of hope—to serve with honesty, sincerity, and dedication in building a prosperous Bangladesh.

On Wednesday, 28 January 2026, Bangladesh National Commission for UNESCO (BNCU) organized a dialogue titled “টাঙ্গাইলের তাঁতঃ ঐতিহ্যের মালিকানা ও শিল্পের সম্ভাবনা” (Tangail Weaving: Ownership of Heritage and the Future of the Industry) at the International Mother Language Institute, Dhaka.
The programme was graced by Professor Dr. C. R. Abrar, Chairman of BNCU and Adviser for Education, as Chief Guest. Ms. Rehana Parven, Secretary, Secondary and Higher Education Division, and Secretary-General, BNCU, attended as Special Guest. The keynote paper was presented by Professor Dr. Masud Imran of the Department of Archaeology, Jahangirnagar University.
The programme brought together dedicated weavers, heritage experts, researchers, entrepreneurs, fashion designers, legal professionals, and representatives from government and development partner organizations.
