Pending... Exactly that’s what we did. The name of the project has its own explanation as well. The solutions that are out there are not truly sustainable.
The project that we named “Toward Sustainable Sustainability’, is the result of our intention of help the country achieve the goals of SDGs faster and more effectively or efficiently. People are trying to obtain a sustainable future with solutions which are not sustainable at all. That is why we wanted to do something which will be a sustainable solution to a sustainable future. Our goal, our prim
ary objective, were two. First, we needed to identify the core of the social issues. And secondly, fix as many as possible by the simplest way. That made us decide to think and gather data to analyze and find out the principal causes of various social and socioeconomic issues and then to try find a solution that’ll be simple and realistic as well as be able to not just only fix one issue, but in the long run be able to help achieving other SDGs while improving the general situation of different places and people. And that lead us to planting trees and reclamation. I chose various Scout Training Centers as the key place or the primary base to work on and at. Strategic plantation at training centers were our plans from the beginning but we knew that planting and maintaining centers which hu are far from us would be difficult as we will not have fast access to those sites. Cleaning plastic wastes was another major part of our entire project. We wanted to work with something all year long and tree plantation although being good, depends heavily on the seasons. Winter is coming and any plant planted at this season will have much less chance of surviving than the plants already planted. If we only went with just the tree plantation part, we would have to eliminate few months off our schedule even before beginning. That is why, also out of necessity, we came up with the idea of cleaning plastics from the environment. Not only we can clean plastics whenever we want, but also plastics are the biggest threat to the environment and the nature. Also, this would increase our output on our target toward reaching our targets of achieving SDGs. Education and nature are connected invisibly. Educational institutions should be integrated into nature. That helps students to keep a healthy mind in a healthy environment which helps to develop their brain properly so that they can understand and grasp education properly. In addition, malnutrition is one of the biggest problems of this country and proper fruits will help students to reduce that issue and it will also mean that in general, we will have a healthy society as children from the society meet at schools and spreading anything from there will have huge impact on everywhere else. Additionally, in Bangladesh, schools are used as storm shelters as well. Trees will protect those places from natural disasters. Our work in those institutions surely helped.
