বীরগঞ্জ উপজেলা একটি ঐতিহ্যবাহী উপজেলা । প্রশাসনিক পুন: বিন্যাসের ফলে ১৯৮৩ সালে বীরগঞ্জ থানা প্রশাসনিক উপজেলায় উন্নীত হয়। ১১টি ইউনিয়ন ও ১টি পৌরসভা নিয়ে বীরগঞ্জ উপজেলা গঠিত । এর আয়তন ৪১৩ বর্গ কিলোমিটার। মৌজা সংখ্যা ১৮৭ এবং গ্রাম সংখ্যা ১৮৬। বীরগঞ্জ উপজেলা ছিল তেভাগা আন্দোলনের অন্যতম কেন্দ্রস্থল। সাওতাল বিদ্রোহের জন্য এ এলাকা বিখ্যাত। মুক্তিযুদ্ধসহ সকল আন্দোলনে এ উপজেলাবাসীর রয়েছে সক্রিয় অংশগ্রহণ।

A good news for BIRGANJ. BIRGANj acquire reputation for Education. Birganj is mostly Educated upzilla in Dinajpur. Here maximum average Educated person in other upzilla in Dinajpur. Many student take study in reputed varsity. Thats the great news for Birganj that many of student read Bangladesh all university.

Birganj is our glorious and reputed upzilla in our Dinajpur District. We are pride of Birganj with happiness. It is the biggest upzilla in Dinajpur. We have many possiblity to asset and charming natural. Birganj has been doing improve day by day, and improved study, medical, Technical and many other ways. Many of student of Birganj are setled in the most famous institutions . Just like we have many medical student:(DJMC, DMC,RMC,KMC,SSMC) and many Engineerning student (BUET DUET RUET CUET). And also have DU,RU,JU, HSTU,BRU,SUST, BAU.
