A group of angry people punished a police officer in Puthia, Rajshahi.
They made him stand while holding his ears.

The incident happened on Sunday evening.
A bus hit an auto-rickshaw on the Rajshahi–Natore highway.
A student of Barendra University died on the spot.
At least seven people were injured.
Later, one man and one woman also died in the hospital.

After the accident, students and local people blocked the highway.
They said the police helped the bus driver escape.

When police arrived, protesters surrounded them for about one hour.
They shouted at the officer-in-charge (OC).
They also punished a sub-inspector (SI).

Police say the driver ran away before they arrived.
The bus was left at a filling station.
Police say a rumor caused the anger.

Later, police members were rescued.
The bus has been seized.
Police will file a case.
They are trying to arrest the driver.
