Shiroil Govt. High School Debating Club - SDC

১৬ই ডিসেম্বর আমাদের জাতীয় জীবনে কেবল একটি দিন নয়; এটি পাকিস্তানি শোষণ, বৈষম্য ও দমন-পীড়নের বিরুদ্ধে দীর্ঘ সংগ্রামের চূড়ান্ত বিজয়ের প্রতীক। বছরের পর বছর অর্থনৈতিক নিপীড়ন, ভাষা ও সাংস্কৃতিক দমন, রাজনৈতিক বঞ্চনার শৃঙ্খল ভেঙে এই দিনেই জন্ম নিয়েছিল একটি স্বাধীন, সার্বভৌম বাংলাদেশ।

১৯৭১ সালের নয় মাসের মুক্তিযুদ্ধ ছিল অত্যাচারের বিরুদ্ধে বাঙালি জাতির সম্মিলিত প্রতিবাদ। ধর্ম-বর্ণ-শ্রেণী-পেশা নির্বিশেষে সকলে ঝাঁপিয়ে পড়ে মহান মুক্তিযুদ্ধে। পাকিস্তানি হানাদার বাহিনী ও তাদের দোসরদের নির্মমতার মুখে দাঁড়িয়ে লক্ষাধিক শহীদের রক্ত, অসংখ্য মা-বোনের সম্ভ্রমহানি আর কোটি মানুষের সীমাহীন ত্যাগের বিনিময়ে আমরা অর্জন করি এই বিজয়। ১৬ই ডিসেম্বর ঢাকার রেসকোর্স ময়দানে পরাজিত শত্রুর আত্মসমর্পণের মধ্য দিয়ে চূড়ান্তভাবে নিশ্চিত হয় বাঙালির বহু আকাঙ্ক্ষিত স্বাধীনতা।

এই বিজয় শুধু ভূখণ্ডের স্বাধীনতা নয়; এটি মর্যাদা, অধিকার ও আত্মপরিচয় ফিরে পাওয়ার দিন। আজ আমরা গভীর শ্রদ্ধায় স্মরণ করি সেই লক্ষাধিক শহীদকে, যাঁদের আত্মত্যাগ আমাদের জাতিসত্তার ভিত্তি। তাঁদের রক্তের ঋণ কোনোদিন শোধ করা সম্ভব নয়। এসডিসি পরিবারের পক্ষ থেকে মহান বিজয় দিবসে সকল শহীদদের প্রতি জানাই গভীর শ্রদ্ধা ও বিনম্র কৃতজ্ঞতা। এই বিজয়ের চেতনাই আমাদের শক্তি, আমাদের প্রেরণা এবং আগামীর পথে অবিচল থাকার অঙ্গীকার।

১৪ই ডিসেম্বর, দিনটি বাঙালি জাতির ইতিহাসে এক শোকাবহ ও কলঙ্কিত অধ্যায়। এই দিনে আমরা স্মরণ করি সেইসব শ্রেষ্ঠ সন্তানদের, যাঁদের জ্ঞান, মনন ও সৃজনশীলতা ছিল একটি স্বাধীন জাতির মেরুদণ্ড। শিক্ষক, লেখক, সাংবাদিক, চিন্তাবিদ; মুনির চৌধুরী, শহীদুল্লাহ কায়সার, জ্যোতির্ময় গুহঠাকুরতা, সেলিনা পারভিন, গোবিন্দচন্দ্র দেব, ফজলে রাব্বী-সহ অগণিত বুদ্ধিজীবীকে পরিকল্পিতভাবে হত্যা করা হয় শুধুমাত্র এই কারণে যে তাঁরা সত্য মানবতা ও স্বাধীনতার পক্ষে দাঁড়িয়েছিলেন।

১৯৭১ সালের ডিসেম্বরে বিজয়ের প্রাক্কালে সুনিশ্চিত পরাজয় বুঝতে পেরে, এই নৃশংস হত্যাকাণ্ড ছিল জাতিকে বুদ্ধিবৃত্তিকভাবে পঙ্গু করে দেওয়ার একটি সুপরিকল্পিত অপচেষ্টা। কিন্তু ঘাতকেরা ভুলে গিয়েছিল একটি জাতির চেতনা কখনো হত্যা করা যায় না। শহীদ বুদ্ধিজীবীদের আদর্শ, চিন্তা ও আত্মত্যাগ আজও আমাদের প্রেরণার বাতিঘর হয়ে আছে।

এই দিনে, এসডিসি-এর পক্ষ থেকে আমরা গভীর শ্রদ্ধার সঙ্গে স্মরণ করি শহীদ বুদ্ধিজীবীদের। তাঁদের রক্তের ঋণ ও আদর্শ ধারণ করেই আমাদের সামনে এগিয়ে যেতে হবে একটি ন্যায়ভিত্তিক, সচেতন ও মানবিক সমাজ গঠনের লক্ষ্যে।

Today is the birthday of our esteemed 𝗗𝗲𝗯𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵, 𝗔𝗮𝘇𝘄𝗮𝗱 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝗺𝗼𝘆.

Our association with Shomoy Bhai is way more than professional; it is a deeply personal one, founded on mutual trust, care, and mentorship. Shomoy Bhai is always there to extend his helping hand in every situation, with a level of teaching enthusiasm and dedication that is a rarity. Ever since he started coaching SDC, the club has been progressing with success, which is a direct result of his dedication and hard work. It is our heartfelt wish to see him reach even greater heights in the future as a debater as well as a coach.

On this very special occasion, the entire SDC family wishes him a very happy birthday, along with prayers for his health, long life, and success.

“On this day in 2009, just a random child enlightened his mother's lap. Soon that kid started to grow up. His dedication, determination, hard work, and hunger for success differentiated him from others and helped him reach the apex of success. The kid who once struggled to walk can now fly in the sky. From zero to infinity, this journey was truly a thrilling ride. But the journey never stopped; he is stepping further toward eternity with no looking back. He took charge of SDC and gave his all to make this club great again, carrying the legacy and tradition of this institution. Today, we proudly celebrate the birthday of our President and one of the finest debaters, Omayer.”

"There are very few people who achieve so much in such a short time and Istiak is truly one of them. He joined the club in 2023, and within just a few months, he earned the position of General Secretary in 2024. Since then, he has worked selflessly for the club. From arranging panels to coordinating school activities, his contributions have been admirable. His commitment and hard work are the reasons he has been elected Secretary General for two consecutive terms. Alongside this, he proudly holds two championships and one runners-up title to his name."

Over the months, Omayer & Istiak has consistently earned multiple achievements, across various tournaments. Their steady rise reflects not only strong individual skill but also a deep sense of discipline and commitment to improvement.

We're pleased to share that Team 𝗦𝗗𝗖 𝟰, consisting of 𝗜𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗸 𝗔𝗵𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗱, 𝗠𝗱. 𝗢𝗺𝗮𝘆𝗲𝗿 𝗛𝗼𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗶𝗻, and 𝗠𝗱. 𝗦𝗮𝗱𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗦𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗯, secured the 𝗧𝗼𝗽 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸 by winning 𝟯 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝟯 preliminary rounds with 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗸𝘀 (𝟴𝟭𝟱) and concluded their run in the 𝗦𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹 of the 𝟭𝘀𝘁 𝗥𝗖𝗦𝗗𝗖 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗗𝗲𝗯𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗙𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗹 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱.

While the finish may not fully reflect the standard the team aims for, earning the Top Team Break once again and consistently standing out in tab rounds is a strong indicator of SDC’s steady growth and competitive presence.

Arafat's adjudication journey has started off remarkably well, showing promise, balance, and composure. With every tournament, his ballot accuracy, comparative reasoning, and oral adjudication skills are becoming more refined.

Shomoy is a remarkable figure in the national debating circuit and currently represents 𝗥𝗗𝗦 𝗘𝗸𝘂𝘀𝗵, the main team of Remians Debating Society.
