🇯🇲🇾🇪last week 2nd June 2026, on the margins of the presentation of Letters of Credence to the King of the Netherlands, Ambassador Mills paid a courtesy call on Her Excellency Sahar Ghanem, Ambassador of the Republic of Yemen to the Netherlands and Dean of the Diplomatic Corps.

They had fruitful discussions about the importance of multilateralism and a rules-based international order. It was also acknowledged that Jamaica and Yemen will celebrate 47 years of diplomatic relations this coming September.

Last week, Ambassador Mills signed the condolence book for Mr. Leslie Roy Campbell, former Minister of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Jamaica, in recognition of his invaluable contribution to the work of the Ministry and his service to Jamaica.

🇯🇲🇳🇱On Wednesday, 3rd June, 2026 Ambassador Mills presented her Letters of Credence in The Hague to His Majesty Willem-Alexander, King of the Netherlands, thereby accrediting her as Jamaica’s non-resident Ambassador to the country.

They discussed the importance of the bilateral relations between Jamaica and the Netherlands, noting the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations that will be celebrated next year.

Both acknowledged, inter alia, the impact of climate change on countries and the prospects for partnerships in this regard, including with respect to renewables and water resources management.

Ambassador Mills used the opportunity to also thank His Majesty for Netherlands’ support following Hurricane Melissa.

🇯🇲🇧🇪 On Wednesday May 27, Ambassador Mills had the pleasure of meeting Denis Mathen, Governor of Namur, the capital of the Wallonia Region of Belgium. This occurred during an event organised for Ambassadors to be apprised about opportunities in that province. The occasion was also used to share a piece of Jamaica by presenting the Governor with Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee 🤝.

🇯🇲🇫🇷 On Tuesday 26 May 2026, Ambassador Mills participated in a day of bilateral engagements in the French Republic:

1. She met with Gérard Wolf, Chairman of MEDEF (Mouvement Enterprises de France International- French Enterprises International Movement) International Sustainable City Task Force and Special Envoy to the Minister for Transport and Sustainable Cities. He was accompanied by Inès Baudienville, Sustainable City Project Officer, Medef (left) and Nicolas Frerot, Political Advisor, Sustainable Urban Development and Infrastructures, Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs (first slide);

2. She also had productive bilateral exchanges with Frantz Gumbs (centre) - Chair of the France-Jamaica Friendship Group of the French National Assembly and MP for Saint-Martin and Saint-Barthélèmy Islands; Benoít Larrouquis, MP (left) representing Overseas French Citizens in the Caribbean and Latin America and Steevy Gustave, VP of the Friendship Group and MP for the Essonne Department (right) (second slide);

3. She met with Ambassador Arnaud Mentre, Ministry of Overseas Territories, French Republic (third slide); and
4. She paid a courtesy call on His Excellency Archbishop Celestino Migliore, Apostolic Nuncio, Holy See, Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, France (fourth slide)

The Embassy will continue to engage stakeholders in the French Republic to deepen the Jamaica 🤝 France partnership.

🇯🇲 As the 11th Biennial Jamaica Diaspora Conference approaches, the Embassy is pleased to share that the Diaspora in our jurisdiction continues to organise and develop.

On Saturday 23 May 2026, Ambassador Mills had the pleasure of joining Jamaicans and Friends of Jamaica at the launch of the Stitching EmpowerJa Nederland (EmpowerJa Foundation in The Netherlands).

During the event she engaged Stephanie Shaw, Chairperson of the Foundation (first slide, top photo); Janis Gotz, Chairperson of the Advisory Board (1st slide, bottom photo); Professor Dr. Wayne Modest, Director of Content, Wereld Museum (2nd slide, top photo) and Karla King, Visual Artist (2nd slide, bottom photo).

Also present was Dr. Rose de Vrieze-McBean, Member of the Global Jamaica Diaspora Council for Continental Europe (3rd slide - group photo).

Hon. Patrick Robinson OJ, Jamaican and former Judge, International Court of Justice, is among the other Advisory Board Members.

on 21 May 2026, Ambassador Mills had the pleasure of meeting with some of Jamaica’s Reggae Ambassadors in Belgium. They discussed the impact of Jamaican Reggae music in Belgium and Europe more widely, and the opportunities to work together to support initiatives to promote the genre.

Left to Right - Youri Van Driessche, Reggae and Dub DJ, Dub Front Association and Reggae Advisor ; Johan Tackx - One of the Organisers of the Wadada Festival in Geel and the Irie Vibes Roots Festival in Kortemark; Wim Grevendonk - Secretary of VZW Rootstock that promotes Reggae music; and Nyira Wuyckena - Community Worker, Saamo Gent and Reggae Lover.

Yesterday, 21 May 2026, Ambassador Mills met with Kristel Van Vlierberghe, affectionately known as Kriss Kross, who collected her Jamaican Citizenship Certificate.

She does a lot of work in the parish of Hanover in Jamaica through her charity Kriss Kross Jamaica.
