🏠How can One-Stop Shops for energy efficiency help overcome the challenges of renovation across Europe?
EBC and UIPI - International Union of Property Owners PI put this question to policymakers, property owners, architects, local authorities, financiers and construction SMEs at the final event, “Scaling up : One-Stop Shops meet the condominium challenge”.
Opening the event, Robert Nuij (DG ENERGY) set the tone: under the revised , One-Stop Shops (OSS) must move from pilots to scale. Three panels then followed the renovation journey:
🟦 : the condominium maze
Emmanuelle Causse (UIPI), Mátyás András Dén (MITOE), Willemien Anaf (City of Mechelen) and Luisa Peitz (Haus & Grund Deutschland) explored how collective decisions, clear information and trust turn owners’ willingness to into action.
🟨 : from decision to practice
Fernando Sigchos Jiménez (EBC), Katharina Erdmenger (ACE), Karine Bidart (Agence Parisienne du Climat) and Mariangela Luceri (FEDARENE) showed how OSS keep projects moving from a decision towards real works – and connect condominiums with local construction .
🟦 : funding the present and future
Jennifer Johnson (EMF), Bianca Faragau (European Investment Bank), John Decleyn (Atradius) and Rémi Collombet (Efficient Buildings Europe) made it clear: the bottleneck is often not capital but projects – which need better preparation, guarantees and risk-sharing.
Closing the event, MEP Marcos Ros Sempere (S&D) called for clear national rules and renovation plans to implement the EPBD, backed by EU funds for renovation and OSS.
The common thread: the renovation journey often breaks down at the handovers and OSS can bridge them, from decision to work site.
EBC remains committed to a pragmatic EPBD implementation, with as a single point of guidance helping construction and craft trades renovate Europe’s building stock.
