"The human cost of Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine continues to rise. Thousands killed. Lives shattered. Global food security threatened.

It is time to end this war.

The European Union supports all efforts to stop this war. Conditions for a lasting peace are well known: it must respect Ukraine’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and Ukraine’s right to choose its future. It must respect the United Nations Charter.

The EU stands firmly for international law and will continue to support Ukraine for as long as it takes."

António Costa, President of the Council of the European Union 🇪🇺

"I welcome today’s agreement on strengthening security in the Arctic and North Atlantic.

My visit to Greenland earlier this month underscored the strategic importance of the region and the scale of the challenges.

Challenges we will face together.

As always, the EU will work closely with Denmark and Greenland and our international partners."

Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission 🇪🇺

"The courage of the people of Ukraine knows no bounds.

Their determination to live free runs deep.

Sasha is living proof.
When a missile struck her home and took her leg, it nearly took her dream with it, too: the dream of becoming a gymnast.

But Sasha refused to give up.
Today, with her prosthetic leg, she travels the world, sharing a powerful message of passion, resilience and determination.

She is an inspiration to us all."

Intensified Russian attacks on Ukraine's ports and export infrastructure are disrupting the Black Sea route, which normally carries around 90% of the country's agricultural exports.

The consequences extend far beyond Ukraine, pressuring global food markets and food security.

The EU-Ukraine Solidarity Lanes provide alternative routes to keep exports moving. But these routes can currently handle only around 30% of the volume Ukraine needs to export each month. The Black Sea route remains essential to getting Ukrainian food to global markets.

"A stronger, more independent Europe is emerging

This is a time of both possibility and peril.

And Europe has chosen to forge its own path.

We are building a Union that can defend itself, together with its partners.

With an Emergency Security Protocol to trigger a coordinated European response and credible deterrence against hybrid attacks.

And a new European Security Council, together with our Canadian, Norwegian, British and Ukrainian friends.

A Union with a strong and dynamic economy.

Where innovation and energy flow across borders. Where European savings finance Europe's future. And where companies can compete, grow and scale across our
continent.

A fairer Union, where care and housing are not privileges, but rights.

And a Europe that confidently protects the rights of its citizens. Especially its children.

With a European Kids Act bringing concrete safeguards for minors online, starting as early as tomorrow.

Our strength lies in our unity.

So let's keep building Europe together.

Brick by brick.

As Europeans have done for generations."

Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission 🇪🇺

A Russian naval frigate fired two signal flares towards a Danish military helicopter conducting routine surveillance over international waters. One reportedly passed close to the aircraft.

Denmark has called the incident unacceptable and summoned the Russian ambassador.

This is not the first encounter involving Russian military assets around Europe. Alongside airspace violations, GPS interference and other hybrid activity, such incidents add to a broader pattern of increasingly reckless behaviour, and underline the importance of keeping European security prepared, measured and alert.

"When we need courage and strength in life I believe we should look to our children.

In them we will find the purest passion for life.

Ukrainian children are a powerful example of this.

In the State of Union I will talk about a story that profoundly moved me."
