🌹A generation that refuses to be silenced!
✊🏼From university occupations and mass demonstrations to the ballot box, Serbia’s young people have shown what determination, solidarity and collective action can achieve.
🗳️The electoral success of the student-backed list, together with an exceptionally high voter turnout, marks an important moment for democratic participation in Serbia. It is a reminder that democracy is not something to be taken for granted, but something citizens must continuously shape and defend.
👉🏼At a time when young people across Europe and the world are mobilising against injustice, inequality and the erosion of democratic rights, Serbia’s student movement has become a powerful example of how a new generation can bring political participation back to the centre of public life.
✊🏼But electoral victories are not the end of democratic struggles. They are an opportunity to turn demands for accountability, transparency and justice into lasting institutional change.
🌹As Young European Socialists, we hope this new chapter will bring Serbia closer to a democratic, inclusive and European future, one built on the rule of law, fundamental freedoms, minority rights and good relations with its neighbours.
🇪🇺We call on the EU institutions, all member states and our political family to support the newly elected democratic forces in Serbia in their struggle to deal with organised crime, reverse the massive damage to institutions done by the Vučić regime and in creating a lasting democracy, as long as it takes.
🌹Our solidarity remains with all those in Serbia who stand for these principles and work towards a society in which young people can build their futures with dignity, freedom and hope.
✊🏼The message reaches far beyond Serbia: when young people organise, their voices cannot be ignored.
