📸 Selfie for All: because everyone deserves the perfect selfie!

Today, Ghent celebrates the launch of Selfie for All, an initiative by Visit Flanders to make one of our favourite holiday moments accessible to everyone, including blind and partially sighted visitors.

Special tactile selfie tiles with raised footprints help visitors find the right spot and angle for their photo. The tiles are designed with accessibility in mind, but everyone can use them to find the perfect spot for a memorable selfie!

📍 Where can you find them in Ghent?

✨ Portus Ganda
🎨 The Graffiti Street

🏰 The Castle of the Counts and ⛪ St Bavo’s Cathedral are joining the project soon!

What happens when the city lights go out? ✨

On 10 October, Ghent takes part in Night of Darkness, an initiative that invites us to experience the night in a different way and reflect on light pollution.

From Friday 9 to Sunday 11 October, the city will switch off the lighting of many of its monuments, giving the night sky a little more room to shine. 🌌

A reminder that sometimes, less light lets us see more.

✨ Looking back at a weekend full of design, creativity and celebration!

Design Museum Gent reopened its doors this weekend after an extensive renovation and expansion — and we’re sharing a few snapshots from the celebrations. From exhibitions and workshops to the impressive new spaces, there was plenty to discover.

Located in the historic heart of Ghent, Design Museum Gent is the largest design museum in Belgium and the only one in Flanders, with 2,500 m² of exhibition space and more than 450 objects from a collection of 24,000 pieces.

The renewed museum brings together its historic buildings with a striking new wing, creating a spacious new city room where design, encounters and creativity come together. And there are plenty of design details to discover, from the 3D-printed entrance gate by Studio Unfold to the museum’s circular Ghent Waste Bricks.

And whatever you do, don’t leave without climbing to the fourth floor. A view of the Castle of the Counts, Graslei and Korenlei and the towers of the Rabot is waiting for you. 👀

Design Museum Gent is open again. Time to come and discover it for yourself! 💛

🛍️✨ A weekend of shopping, design and discovering Ghent!

Looking for a good reason to visit Ghent this weekend? We’ve got one – or actually, quite a few. 😉

It’s Weekend of the Customer and Shop Sunday, which means Ghent’s shops are open throughout the weekend – the perfect opportunity to browse local boutiques, discover Belgian brands and pick up something special to take home.

And there’s even more to explore: the Design Museum Gent is reopening its doors, bringing design back to the heart of the city. 🪑✨

Keep an eye on the shop windows too: as part of Windows of Design, selected shop windows around Ghent feature a design object from the museum’s collection. So even a little window shopping comes with a touch of design inspiration. 👀

Come for the shopping, stay for the design – and make a whole weekend of it in Ghent. 💛
