✨ Four days of expertise, cooperation and practical learning: from 1️⃣2️⃣ to 1️⃣5️⃣ May, CMDR COE is conducting the Crisis Management in a Multilateral Framework course, bringing together experts and participants from leading diplomatic, academic and defence institutions for four days of dialogue, learning and practical engagement. 🌍

🤝 The course is organised in cooperation with the Diplomatic Institute to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria, Egmont – Royal Institute for International Relations, Belgium, and within the framework of the European Security and Defence College (ESDC), Brussels, with the support of the “G. S. Rakovski” National Defence College and the University of National and World Economy, Department of International Relations.

🎓 Through expert lectures, discussions and practical activities, participants examine emerging global and regional security challenges, current political and military crises, crisis diplomacy and multilateral decision-making. A key part of the programme is a tabletop exercise focused on diplomacy and coordinated international response, highlighting the role of the European Union, the United Nations, NATO, the OSCE and non-governmental organisations in addressing complex crises.

🌐 By promoting dialogue, practical learning and inter-institutional cooperation, the course strengthens knowledge and skills for effective action in a multilateral environment.

🎤 Mr Lindon Pronto

✨ Lindon Pronto holds an M.Sc. in Environmental Governance and brings more than 20 years of international experience in 🔥 wildfire management, including operational service as a federal wildland firefighter🧑‍🚒 in California and professional work across more than 30 countries.
🌐 Throughout his career, he has supported governments, NGOs, international organizations, and the private sector; served on national and international expert panels; and contributed thematic expertise to EU institutions. He is currently an Associate Editor at Wildfire Magazine and has served as Senior Wildfire Management Expert at the European Forest Institute (EFI) since 2020.

🤝 We look forward to welcoming Lindon Pronto and other distinguished experts to Sofia this June.

DisinfoHack 2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣6️⃣ is a research hackathon dedicated to strengthening information resilience and countering disinformation.

🏆 CMDR COE proudly contributed to this important initiative by participating in the jury process and presenting special awards to two outstanding teams, who were invited to attend the Centre’s Cognitive Warfare Course.

🌐 This year’s edition brought together 46 students in 7 teams from Bulgarian and international universities, who developed innovative projects focused on online narratives, media trust, electoral processes, and the impact of AI on misleading content.

🤝 DisinfoHack 2️⃣6️⃣ once again demonstrated the value of cooperation between academia, institutions, and young professionals in addressing one of today’s most significant societal challenges.

🌍 International experts, scientists, and practitioners gathered in Sofia from 20 to 24 April for the 41st International Technical Meeting on Air Pollution Modelling and its Application (ITM 2026), hosted by the Crisis Management and Disaster Response Centre of Excellence.

✨ Over five days, participants explored key topics, including emissions modelling, urban air pollution, data integration, and innovative forecasting technologies.

🤝 The event strengthened international cooperation and highlighted the importance of linking science, policy, and operational practice to address environmental and public health challenges.

📢Call for Papers: NATO M&S Annual Symposium 2026

The CMDR COE will host the 2026 NATO Modelling and Simulation Group Annual Symposium on 29-30 October 2026, under the theme: “Towards a Digital Twin of the NATO Mission Space.” 🌐💡

This significant event will bring together experts, researchers, and practitioners from NATO and partner nations to explore the future of modelling and simulation in support of improved decision-making, readiness, experimentation, training, and wargaming. 🤝🧠

📝Abstract submission deadline: 30 April 2026

The symposium is open to NATO nations, NATO bodies, Partnership for Peace countries, and partners worldwide, with all sessions conducted at PUBLIC RELEASE level.

🎓 The CMDR COE Mobile Education and Training Team delivered a Crisis Management and Disaster Response Course at SEEBRIG HQ in Kumanovo, Republic of North Macedonia, from 30 March to 03 April 2026.
🤝 The course brought together participants from NATO member states and partner nations, combining expert instruction with practical exercises to enhance knowledge of NATO crisis management, disaster preparedness, and response. 🛡️
