Embajada de la República Argentina en Bulgaria

Por iniciativa de esta Embajada, la Fundación Cuatro Garras, que trajo a los osos Gordo y Florencia desde la Argentina, visitó la Escuela SU 90 General de San Martin en Sofia y realizó una presentación a los alumnos sobre la reserva de Belitsa y sobre los osos allí alojados. Muy valioso y generoso gesto de Cuatro Garras y muy positiva la acogida de la escuela a esta iniciativa. Bravo!!! 🐾🐾
По инициатива на това посолство, „Фондация ЧЕТИРИ ЛАПИ”, която доведе мечките Гордо и Флоренсия от Аржентина, посети 90 средно училище „Ген. Хосе де Сан Мартин“ в София и направи презентация на учениците за ПАРК ЗА МЕЧКИ Белица и за мечките, живеещи там. Приветстваме ценния и щедър жест на организацията за защита на животните „Четири Лапи“ и ентусиазираната подкрепа на училището за тази инициатива. Браво!

En ocasión de la culminación de sus funciones, el Embajador Zothner Meyer, recibió de la Presidente Iliana Iotova la Orden del Caballero de Madara y fue despedido por personalidades y amigos de la Embajada.

As Ambassador of Argentina in Bulgaria, I had the honor—together with the Embassy of Israel in Sofia, and with the valuable cooperation of Sofia University’s Jewish Studies Program (Hebraistika) at the Faculty of History, Shalom, and the Diplomatic Institute of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria—to host the “IHRA Presidency Israel-Argentina Handover Ceremony” at the Aula Magna of Sofia University on 27 February.

The event took place in the context of the upcoming transfer of the Presidency of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) from Israel to Argentina and continued with a discussion on “The Global Fight Against Antisemitism in the Era of Social Media, AI, and Information Distortion.” We reflected on the IHRA definition of antisemitism and why confronting antisemitism remains a shared responsibility—especially in a digital environment where social media, AI, and disinformation can amplify hate and distort facts.

In my remarks, I highlighted the main foreign policy guidelines of President Javier Milei and stressed Argentina’s strong commitment to the IHRA definition, to combating antisemitism, and to keeping memory alive, among other key aspects. Speech available in the pictures.

Speakers also addressed the challenges we are seeing in recent years, including the rise of hate-driven and antisemitic behavior, and the dangers of data manipulation, information distortion, and fake news—issues that call for stronger education, deeper awareness, and sustained engagement across society.

La Escuela 90 “General José de San Martin” de Sofia conmemoró el 148 aniversario del nacimiento del Libertador, y su propio día. Junto a los himnos de Bulgaria y de la Argentina, el alumnado cantó el himno de su escuela, inspirado en San Martin. Los discursos resaltaron la figura de San Martin, la importancia de la libertad y la educación en su ideario, así como el paralelismo con el héroe nacional búlgaro Vassil Levski. 90 СУ „Ген. Хосе де Сан Мартин“ в София отбеляза 148-ата годишнина от рождението на Освободителя и неговия собствен ден. Наред с националните химни на България и Аржентина, учениците изпяха училищния си химн, вдъхновен от Сан Мартин. Речите подчертаха фигурата на Сан Мартин, значението на свободата и образованието в неговите идеали, както и паралелите с българския национален герой Васил Левски. The Embassy of the Argentine Republic in Bulgaria welcomes the arrival in Bulgaria of the two brown bears, “Florencia” and “Gordo”, relocated from the former Luján Zoo to the Belitsa Bear Sanctuary to begin a new life in conditions suited to their needs.

The operation was carried out by the international animal welfare organisation FOUR PAWS as part of its rescue efforts, and required an intensive technical and logistical operation, with multiple administrative and veterinary procedures.

For the Embassy of Argentina in Bulgaria, it was a great satisfaction to accompany this moment, to support the initiative, and in particular to be part of the process that facilitated the bears’ entry into Bulgaria.

The reception ceremony was attended by FOUR PAWS senior leadership—Josef Pfabigan (CEO), Luciana D’Abramo (Chief Programmes Officer), Dr. Amir Khalil (Mission Leader in Argentina), and Dr. Ventseslava Tasseva (Country Director, Bulgaria)—all of whom travelled to Bulgaria with the bears. Also participating were Jesús Caballero Pinto (CEO of SOF Connect, Sofia Airport), Counsellor Juan Ignacio Camio Bavasso (Head of the Economic and Trade Section at the Embassy of Argentina in Bulgaria), and Mario Bakalov (Lufthansa pilot).

The Embassy of Argentina in Bulgaria reiterates its appreciation for the work of FOUR PAWS and for all the individuals and institutions that contributed to making Florencia and Gordo’s arrival in Bulgaria possible.

La Embajada de la República Argentina en Bulgaria celebra la llegada a Bulgaria de los dos osos pardos “Florencia” y “Gordo”, trasladados desde el ex-zoológico de Luján al santuario de osos de Belitsa para comenzar una nueva vida en condiciones adecuadas a sus necesidades.

La operación fue llevada adelante por la organización internacional de bienestar animal FOUR PAWS, en el marco de sus acciones de rescate, y requirió una intensa labor técnica y logística, con múltiples instancias administrativas y sanitarias.

Para la Embajada Argentina en Bulgaria fue una enorme satisfacción haber acompañado ese momento, haber apoyado la iniciativa y, en particular, haber sido parte del proceso que facilitó el ingreso de los osos.

Durante la ceremonia de recepción participaron autoridades de FOUR PAWS - Josef Pfabigan, CEO; Luciana D’Abramo, Chief Programmes Officer; Dr. Amir Khalil, líder de la misión de rescate en Argentina; y Dra. Ventseslava Tasseva, Country Director de Bulgaria -, quienes viajaron a Bulgaria junto con los osos. También participó Jesús Caballero Pinto, CEO de SOF Connect (Aeropuerto de Sofía); el Cons. La Embajada Argentina en Bulgaria reitera su reconocimiento al trabajo de FOUR PAWS y de todas las personas e instituciones que contribuyeron a que Florencia y Gordo pudieran llegar a Bulgaria.

Tuvimos el gran gusto de recibir una donación de libros de autores búlgaros del Museo Literario Nacional destinada a la Biblioteca de la Facultad de Filosofía y Letras de la Universidad de Buenos Aires, casa de altos estudios donde funciona la Cátedra de Literaturas Eslavas. Muchas gracias al Director del Museo, Ananas Kapralov, y a Marina Vassileva, ex cónsul búlgara en la Argentina y mentora de este valioso proyecto!! С удоволствие получихме дарение от книги на български автори от Националния литературен музей за библиотеката на Факултета по философия и литература към Университета в Буенос Айрес, институцията, в която се помещава катедрата по славянски литератури. La Embajada tuvo el gusto de estar presente en la inauguración de la exposición fotográfica "La Antártida y los Búlgaros" de Iglika Trifonova, que se expone en el hall central de Universidad de Sofía, y organizada conjuntamente por el Instituto Antártico Búlgaro y el Instituto Estatal de Cultura del Ministerio de Asuntos Exteriores. Maravillosas fotografías que no sólo muestran la belleza del Continente Helado, sino también de la presencia de Bulgaria en esos lejanos lugares del planeta. #българскиантарктическиинститут #игликатрифонова #христопимпирев #антарктида

Посолството имаше удоволствието да присъства на откриването на фотографската изложба „Антарктида и българите“ от Иглика Трифонова, изложена в Централното фоайе на Софийския университет „Свети Климент Охридски“. Изложбата е организирана съвместно от Българския антарктически институт и Държавния институт по култура към Министерството на външните работи. El Embajador Zothner Meyer estuvo presente en la inauguración de la Feria AGRA, que tiene lugar en la ciudad de Plovdiv, donde tuvo la oportunidad de visitar los stands que exponen maquinaria agrícola argentina de las empresas Cruscianelli, Tanzi, Ombu, De Grande y Richiger, asi como también de conversar con las autoridades de la Universidad Agricola de Plovdiv respecto de los proyectos interinstitucionales en desarrollo con la Argentina. 🚜
