Education and Communication of Deaf Children and Youths in Burundi

the program of the University of Central Lancashire UCLan. The aim of this initiative is to support our merely organisation (Burundi national association of the deaf) by raising voices for Deaf children and youth in Burundi who face the communication and education barriers and to seek supports for these Deaf children and youth in order for them to benefit proper education and other needs. Our strategies in this initiative will be based on:
• Support to registered Deaf children at the special and formal schools;
• Create community awareness to educate parents of Deaf children to have the right attitude towards such children;
• Conduct home visit to deaf children homes and conduct family counseling services;
• Provide Sign Language training and Deaf studies to teachers both Deaf and hearing schools;
• Provide teaching materials to Deaf schools;
• Train sign language to the population of Burundi
